Incredible break from the govt omerta on what their own water reforms mean here. Can't wait to see Chris Luxon obviously back this and not immediately dismiss it because he's painted himself into an austerity corner.

And there it is: voting for Opp is voting for National or someone not Labour. The fact he even engaged with the question - during an election campaign! - shows a breathtaking degree of incompetence that would be a liability if part of a coalition government.

Credit to Hayden Donnell for asking Winston directly about his transphobia on two occasions during his little tour of the North Shore and peeling off that veneer of charm to reveal what he is for a few seconds. thespinoff.co.nz/politics/07-...
“She's a total nobody,” he insists to The Spinoff. “I'm not offending anybody. I'm in a public place, and she's saying that I've got no right to come to a public place, and only you would give her coverage for an extraordinarily arrogant argument like that. What's your next question?” The Spinoff goes back to Anderson, asking what he’d say to someone like that, who’s worried about her child and the effect his policies are having on him. “Why doesn’t she wait till the child grows up before she starts deciding for a child what the child wants?” he ventures.

For a second, the charisma is gone, replaced by something darker. But then, informed that Anderson’s son isn’t a young child, he gets back to more familiar territory. “You don't know how old? This is a jack up. I'm not wasting my time on such silly questions. Go back to The Spinoff, and you're not going to win the election,” he says. Then he flashes that grin. The eyes twinkle.

"tonight is the only TVNZ leaders' debate of this election, with Luxon declining an invitation to a second TVNZ debate on November 5." i swear Christopher Luxon is the laziest PM we've had. half-arsed the role, no portfolios, constantly unaware, hated being questioned, now only one debate. #nzpol

Also remember that their former president was being trailed (and eventually convicted) for child sexual abuse during the last election and David Seymour shielded him and spent huge amounts of money to make sure his name surpression didn’t lapse until after the election.

"You can still go to school", said the Minister for Shitty Lunches and Truancy after being told by kids that it was the school holidays actually. He instinctively manufactures a way to somehow appear to be in the right even in the face of obvious ignorance. Such a weak, insecure ego.

Impossible to invent something as absurd as the Minister for Cracking Down On Truancy And School Lunches not knowing it is the school holidays www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...

RNZ Live
'Why are you not in school?' It’s school holidays

David Seymour stopped to speak to some children at Velocity Valley in Rotorua, giving them a piece of advice.

“Don’t trust politicians,” he said. “Are you a politician?,” they questioned.

After the three children asked if he was going to be on the news and waved at the cameras, he said: “hey, one question, how come you guys aren’t at school?”

It’s school holidays, they said.

Seymour said they could still go into school, but the kids didn’t seemed thrilled by that idea.

“No, it’s ok,” they said before walking away.

50% of the National campaign budget could be saved by doing two things: 1. Every time Labour publishes a new policy we just imagine Nicola Willis going "But how will they pay for it?" 2. Same for the Greens, but call them communists/radicals. #nzpol

GREAT NEWS !! Thanks to SCIENCE — specifically, Dr. Fauci — a Minnesota summer camp for kids with HIV will not reopen in 2027… because there aren’t any HIV infected kids to attend anymore! More of the story in the Alt-Text:
Thanks to rock-bottom rates of HIV infection among babies in the state, One Heartland, one of the nation's largest summer campgrounds for HIV-positive kids, is no longer needed.

Perinatal transmission of HIV, when children contract the virus while in the womb or breastfeeding, has fallen to below 1% in HIV-positive mothers in the United States thanks to antiretroviral medications.
Globally, new HIV infections among children up to age 14 have declined by 38% since 2015.

And this is all thanks to Dr. Fauci!

Appointed NIAID director in 1984, Fauci oversaw large-scale clinical trials networks that helped transform HIV from a fatal diagnosis into a manageable chronic condition
