Boy, seeing them all gathered together like this really makes you think about their legacies and how each of them, in their own way, paved the way for Trump to happen not once but twice.

Happy Pride to this Caravaggio self-portrait that made one man so gay he had to go to the hospital
Caravaggio's Baccus painting, featuring a lush fruity spread and leaves bedecking a pasty twink who only works out his armsArticle screenshot that says:

The most extreme examples of
Stendhal syndrome share a sensation of
self-fragmentation. Magherini
describes the case of a 53-year-old
German man who was hospitalized
after repeatedly viewing Caravaggio's
Bacchus at Uffizi Gallery. The patient
felt "an attraction closer and closer to
an intimate sexual arousal of
ambiguous nature that invaded him
and made him feel good and bad."
Unmoored and distressed, he sought
medical attention. After treating the
subject's initial episode, Magherini
writes that he came to recognize his
latent homosexuality. Another case...

There are many situations where non-violent resistance is far superior to any other options to effect change. However, WWII-era Nazi occupied territory is probably the most clear cut case where authorities were not vulnerable to pangs of conscience about inflicting mass violence on the non-violent.

Just saw a German politician blaming the security council vote embarrassment on Russia and only grudgingly accepting that blind support of Israel might have something to do with it. C’mon man……

One of my favourite things about Potsdam is how many odd little things exist *apart* from the abundance of palaces. This elephant (made from a single tree!) in the Neuer Garten is a case in point

Was just at a restaurant in Prague - a very touristy spot that somehow remains quite cheap and one I go to 1/2 times a year. I asked the waiter why it’s still cheap and he said the owner believes that ‘cheap and busy’ is better than ‘expensive and half empty’

The Brutalist is a huge disappointment. It tries so hard to be profound but the director just doesn't have the chops. It also *MILD SPOILER ALERT* indulges in the vaguely antisemitic fallacy that the only place that Jews can be safe and should therefore exist is Israel.
