For Rob’s #BestOfTheMonth #BirdOfTheDay theme I’m choosing this focused #GreenHeron and its perfect reflection. Though my real best of the month is probably my upside-down misassembled tern, but I just posted that.😜 #birds #WildlifePhotography #ECK
A squat brown bird with green accents on its head, wingtips, and tail clings to a narrow tree while staring intently at the still water below. It has a yellow stripe from its eye to its long narrow black beak. It is reflected in the water below.

Radar image of Tuesday's mass crane migration. A 100 km long line of migrating cranes was clearly visible on weather radar. It is estimated that around 10,000 (?) cranes were involved in that formation. The highest count observed was 26,000 migrating cranes on that day in Kangasala (near Tampere).

An American Kestrel (Falco sparverius) male, the smallest and certainly one of the most beautiful North American falcons is #BirdoftheDay for the theme #Raptors. #birds #Florida #KissimmeePrairie
A dark, dramatically-lit vertical frame featuring a male American Kestrel, facing forward right with head and small beak turned back to the left. His bright orange feet are perched one over the other atop a thin branch with a few green leaves and one red leaf on it. A beautiful small falcon, he has slaty blue on the head with some accents of russet, a dark brown eye and bold vertical streaks of black coming down from his eye and behind it. His breast is light, with some rust color, and his belly has small dark spots scattered on it. You can see some under tail bands. The light is coming from the right and the background is quite dark olive green. Though small, he looks intent and fierce as any other raptor would as he looks for prey.

@atlanticbirding.bsky.social says today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is #Raptors, any bird of prey. European honey buzzard , Wespendief - Pernis apivorus

#birdoftheday #raptors The light wasn't great for the bird, though the background autumn bokeh is really nice imo. Please enjoy this juvenile bald eagle, trying to figure out the next steps of his/her journey. I was so close I couldn't get the whole bird in the frame.

Another osprey. #BirdOfTheDay #Raptors 📷🌿🪶🦅
A photo of an American osprey (Pandion haliaetus carolinensis) taken from below as it is in flight against a clear blue sky, its long wings stretched out beside it as it glides. It is a large white and brown raptor with barring on its wings and tail, a dark hooked beak, long black talons, and yellow eyes. It's moving toward the left of frame with its head tilted slightly upward.
