Something different for #StunDay. This week I finally visited the Flight 93 Memorial in Shanksville, PA. I lived six miles away on 9/11/2001. This is the Tower of Voices. It has 40 wind chimes in it—one for each person on the plane. There was no wind the day I visited, but I will go back. #ECK

I love the crest on the changeable hawk-eagle. I saw this streaked raptor at Yala National Park in Sri Lanka. The park is in the southwest corner of the country and is well worth a visit.

This brahminy kite was also seen in Yala National Park. I adored this elegant looking bird with its chestnut wings and body and its snow white head. This particular one was trying (unsuccessfully) to steal an eel from a black-headed ibis.

Also in Yala, I didn’t get a particular good shot of this guy, but what a beautiful bird. We first saw it standing in some shallow water. Then it flew up to this perch.

I saw dozens of these beautiful black kites in coastal Japan. Just stunning.
