I spoke too soon about the lack of Autumn flowering by Rhododendrons after this exceptional summer. Just a bit later than recent years, and, if anything, more prolific.

Life in the UK's mobile phone signal 'blackspots'
Most of the UK has access to 4G and 5G signal, but in some places the lack of it causes serious disruption.

No. Abolishing the #TripleLock would only pay for a fraction of a "National Care Service", and that will not pay for a care home. Your savings will still be confiscated.

If the London Government, of whatever party, intends, in real terms, to reduce the already inadequate old age pension, they should have the common decency to give us the right to die when we wish, rather than further enriching private carehomes. #triplelock

Apparently, a great many of us believe in public money being used to keep the cost of housing unaffordable (or even rising!) and directly finance the property speculators and money lenders.

Not a wasp or a hornet, but a hornet-mimicking hoverfly! Volucella zonaria is the largest hoverfly species in the UK, first spotted in southern England in the 1930s and gradually expanding its range northwards.

4-panel comic by War and Peas. Panel 1: A man at a bar tells Slutty Witch, "You really need to find God." Panel 2: She looks irritated. "I do?" Panel 3: Slutty Witch walks through a dark forest at night, glowing eyes watching from the bushes. Panel 4: She sits on a log beside a massive pagan forest deity with antlers and a long beard who says, "I think you're doing great."

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Marder during the day before. Anu was barking up this tree, took me a moment to spot it. Don’t know if is a pine marten (Baummarder) or a beech marten (Steinmarder).
A tall conifer tree, and quite some way up, a creature perched on a branch looming down on us. Zoomed in, it’s a marten of some type. White chest, long fluffy dark tail.
