Ema raises $77M in funding to deploy AI employees across enterprise HR, IT and finance departments
Agentic artificial intelligence employee startup Ema Unlimited Inc. is prepping for a massive expansion of its autonomous workers in the enterprise after raising $77 million in funding today. The Series B round was led by Creagis and saw the participation of existing backers including Accel, S32 and Posus, which each returned with a substantially larger investment, the company said. Ema said it will use the funds to expand and accelerate the development of its agentic employees, which help to automate business operations across human resources, information technology and finance. The startup has built a number of AI agents designed to act like “autonomous AI employees.” Unlike traditional generative AI chatbots, its agents are designed not to answer questions but to take actions upon request and execute complex tasks within enterprise software systems. Once given a task to complete, they’ll set about planning how to do it, before executing within the applications and systems that companies already use to conduct their business. They’re also designed to check their own work and notify their human overseers when they’re needed to approve sensitive actions.
