Discount Elon Musk is a big DOGE fanboy and wants to bring it to Canada. From The Tyee 18 months ago. thetyee.ca/News/2025/02...
From The Tyee

Tobias Lütke, CEO of Shopify, reposted a tweet calling for DOGE and complaining about Canadian government spending on an aid program in Africa, quote-tweeted a post from DOGE with the message "Inefficiency has its own Gringotts!" and reposted a tweet that expressed concern that the identities of
"the good and the young" DOGE staffers had been revealed by news media.

Several of the Build Canada supporters frequently retweet Elon Musk or defend him in the face of criticism.

On Jan. 21, the day after Musk made two Nazi salutes at a rally at Trump's inauguration, Shopify's vice-president of engineering, Farhan Thawar, posted: "If your private chats are all about @elonmusk's supposed salute instead of the speed and direction of Donald Trump's executive orders, then you should change chat groups."

Build Canada lists 29 supporters, most of whom are CEOs of Canadian tech companies.

The Ontario government says it will introduce legislation that would exempt the Premier, cabinet ministers and their offices from having to respond to freedom of information requests, allowing them to keep documents and e-mails about their decision-making secret.

In a summary of the proposed changes released on Friday, Ontario says it is one of the only provinces that subjects these documents to freedom of information rules, which allow citizens, journalists and advocacy groups to request their release.

The proposed changes follow the government’s loss of a court battle, initially launched by Global News, over the call logs for Premier Doug Ford’s personal cellphone, which he uses for government business.

A GO train carrying 120 passengers was within seconds of derailing near Oakville earlier this year, according to an internal Metrolinx report obtained by the Star, a close call that one expert said could have resulted in a “high-fatality” crash.

The incident — which the report says was the fourth time a GO train sped past a stop signal over the previous 12 months — has railway experts raising questions about the safety and transparency of the province’s commuter railway, which carries an average 244,000 passengers daily.

On Jan. 5, a westbound GO train just outside of the Oakville GO Station blew through a stop signal and crossed over to a different track at about 112 km/h when it should have only been travelling at about 24 km/h, despite the driver hitting the brakes, according to the confidential, preliminary Metrolinx report of the incident.
