The EU's new #PPWR is effectively shutting small businesses out of selling to customers in other countries. The fragmented process, administrative overhead and cost make it simply not worth it. Meanwhile, multinationals can sue countries through corporate courts for being inconvenienced.

GenAI is a tech bubble of hype and absurdity. It runs on nothing but vibes and dollar signs in billionaire's eyes. But that's why we must resist it. We broke NFTs, we broke the Metaverse, we can break this nonsense too.

The reason RAM prices went up 4x is that a massive amount of not-yet-manufactured memory was bought with money that doesn't really exist to put into GPUs that haven't been made yet, to be installed in data centers that haven't been built, powered by infrastructure that may never exist, to satisfy demand that isn't actually there, in order to generate profits that are mathematically impossible.

Irish representatives to the EU really need to push for making it easier for Irish consumers to buy from mainland companies (not Amazon!). Many either don't ship to Ireland, or stopped doing so because of too many complaints about delayed, lost or damaged parcels (I asked).

As others have pointed out, this is mostly to protect high street stores selling products made to similar quality at huge markup from getting cannibalised by consumers cutting out the middleman. It's punishing the customer instead of putting the corporations and governments in the hot seat.
