Yeah exactly

And why oh why is it always the language of inevitability and possessiveness? Nobody who’s this insistent, aggressive and violative with their language of “it’s here and if you don’t adopt it you’re stupid and dead” has ever been right about anything. Nobody this desperate, insistent and forceful has ever had good intentions, good vibes or brought good omens — they are always bearers of some kind of con.

The 23rd printing of Why Self-Publish Under Fascism? (terrible color in the photo!). I've hand-made over 1,500 copies since May 1st and most have been distributed/sold. Still available and people are teaching the text so there's a discount if you buy 10+. Get it from halfletterpress.com for just $3.

Assembly station for the following booklet:

Why Self-Publish Under Fascism?
By Marc Fischer
Public Collectors, Chicago, IL, 2025
Pages: 8
Dimensions: 5.5 in x 8.5 in
Cover: Paper
Binding: saddle stitched
Process: RISO, digital copy, rubber stamping, hand-marking. Paper stocks and colors vary from copy to copy.
Color: Various color ink cover, black ink writing, stamping, and interior printing.
Edition size: open
ISBN: none

This publication was prompted by an invitation from Mariame Kaba to join her in a discussion titled: Why Make Zines in 2025: Information Control Under Fascism, which is being held at the space Walls Turned Sideways on 2717 W. Madison street in Chicago on May 22, 2025. Also in conversation are K Reynolds and Lewis Wallace.

The booklet includes a 4-page list of answers to the cover question. Some examples:

To write words and print images and make creative decisions that a corporate newspaper or publishing imprint would never allow to see the light of day under fascism.

Because we know that people have always created, and written, and made art, and even self-published during wars, in prisons, and in concentration camps.

Self-publish to produce something in a way that lets you direct its distribution through whatever channels you prefer.

To make something that can’t be easily wiped off the web, like a website, blog, or social media account when the web host caves to fascism or obeys in advance.

To reconnect with the spirit of samizdat, where Eastern Bloc dissidents reproduced censored materials—sometimes by hand—to evade censors.

To attack and humiliate Neo-Nazis and use publications to grow an atmosphere of hostility to their bullshit.

Because writing and editing and designing and self-publishing are all life-affirming things. We need you alive, not them.

emperor damian and his noble consort ❤️ #damidick #omegadickweek2025

An illustration of Richard and Damian’s mating ceremony. They stand facing each other under a flowing red veil, with Damian gently holding Richard’s chin, while Richard has a hand on Damian’s shoulder. Both wear traditional red Qing Dynasty wedding attire decorated with auspicious motifs. Richard is adorned with a decorative headdress crown, three lobe earrings, and ornate nail guards on his ring and pinky fingers.

A vertical illustration depicting an intimate moment between Richard and Damian. Richard lies on his back, long hair spread across the bedding and wearing only a dudou (traditional chinese undergarment). His right hand grips the quilts while the other is clasped into a fist over his mouth. Damian’s head is positioned between his legs, nose to his groin, which is soaked with slick. Damian’s left hand rests on Richard’s lower stomach as he performs oral sex.

New booklet! "Who Shares the Restroom Code with ICE Agents?" This collection of questions is an invitation to think about situations we may encounter with ICE, a poetic rant against ICE, and a provocation for ICE’s allies. Full description in the cover alt text. halfletterpress.com/who-shares-w...

Back Cover description:

On May 24, 2025, five United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers sat down for breakfast at Sava’s restaurant in Ann Arbor, Michigan. After eating some waffles, they entered the kitchen and handcuffed and detained three members of the kitchen staff.

Many restaurants and other establishments have been conducting Know Your Rights training. Informative flyers are regularly posted throughout Chicago where I live. I see them on the edges of the parking lot of the Home Depot in my neighborhood where immigrant day laborers often hang out looking for work. I see flyers in the post office parking lot. A Mexican restaurant I get food from often has one posted on their window. Still, I can’t stop thinking about what happened at Sava’s restaurant. Did the agents tip the waitstaff before arresting the kitchen staff? At what percentage? Did they compliment the chef on the waffles while cuffing him in front of diners and his coworkers?

As ICE grows bolder with their deportations, and as public resistance to ICE intensifies, I’ve been thinking more about these secret police agents that we fund with our taxes. I think about how easily ICE agents move through the city during their downtime, when they aren’t busy terrorizing immigrants in the name of white supremacy while hiding behind masks. I’ve also been thinking about their fans and supporters.

I shared some of the first questions in this publication on two social media platforms and invited others to add their own questions. Then I selected and organized some of the responses and compiled them into this booklet. Multiple friends read this text and gave suggestions. This collection of questions is an invitation to think about situations we may encounter with ICE, a poetic rant against ICE, and a provocation for ICE’s allies.

This sounds like a bit but I’m being serious: kids using chat gpt for their homework are denying themselves the invaluable experience of learning how to bullshit their way through a problem. You drink some caffeine the night before and figure it the fuck out. That’s a skill. You need it in life.
