Finished my Cheiridium museorum drawings and have now made them into Bookmarks. 5 bookmarks per A4 page, just need to get them printed on to some nice thick paper at my local printers. Quite appropriate I think as these pseudoscorpions are commonly called Book Scorpions.

A sheet of approx A4 size paper divided into 5 equal strips by thin black horizontal lines. Each resulting rectangle contains 5 black and white line drawings of a pseudoscorpion in a different position. The pseudoscorpions appear to be wandering off across the page in different directions with their claws held out at different angles, variously facing up, down, left and right.

An astonishing count of 43 Nigma walckenaeri this afternoon from this ivy growing along this wall in Swindon Wiltshire. It stretched for about 100 metres long and we counted only what we could see up to head height. Lots of empty webs too. @britishspiders.bsky.social #spiders #Irecord

A grand 4 pseud day yesterday with @jeremybartlett.bsky.social on our little 24 mile cycle ride south of Norwich. Cheiridium museorum was found in the 3 churches we visited while Ephippiochthonius tetrachelatus was found at 1 church. 2 other species found at roadside locations. Details in ALT.

Cheiridum museorum: a tiny reddish-brown pseudoscorpion with a roundish, flattened body and fairly slender claws. It is on a pale piece of wood.

Ephippiochthonius tetrachelatus: a brownish coloured pseudoscorpion with long slender claws that are pale reddish colour. It is sitting facing left on a piece of wood covered in bits of cobweb.

Chthonius ischnocheles: a brownish pseudoscorpion with a dark head, large chelicerae and long, slender pale reddish claws. It is sitting head down on a piece of pale grey concrete. Two of these were found under bits of concrete rubble found at the edge of a roadside woodland.

Chernes cimicoides: a dark, reddish-brown pseudoscorpion with large robust claws on a piece of wood. It has a matt/granular appearance. Its body and pedipalps are covered in short, blunt hairs (called setae). This one was found under the loose bark of a large bough that had fallen from a mature roadside Oak tree.

Four Araneus species from Lakenheath Fen today. They had very recently mowed the paths and there weren't many spiders to be seen, and NO pyramidatus anywhere, which is usually the spider I see the most. Tetragnatha and Metellina also seen.

Just found this dinky little spider in the garden which looks like it is a Zilla diodia. Have had one in the garden once before but really nice to see another one. #spiders #arachnids

A small spider with a pale brown cephalothorax and light and dark banded legs sitting scrunched up at the centre of its web. The spider's abdomen has pale whitish hairs at the sides and front with a dark bar just behind and then a dark centre.

A white spider with black markings head down on a grey wooden fence. Below the spider and slightly left is the shiny head of a nail hammered deep into the wood with a horizontal split spreading either side of it.

A brown and white flecked spider on a brown wooden fence post. It's head is rather squarish and the body is a long oval. The legs are relatively short. The spider's front two eyes are very large and round.

A nice discovery under flaking bark of a diseased tree, the tiny nymph of a Chernes cimicoides pseudoscorpion in its silk moulting chamber. The claws of the shed skin can be seen above the pale nymph. The bark was carefully replaced. #arachnids #pseudoscorpions

Brown tree trunk with scattered black bits on it and in the centre an open oval of silk with a tiny little pale greyish pseudoscorpion tucked inside.

Close-up of the silken chamber where the pseudoscorpion sheds its skin. The pseudoscorpion is pale greyish with robust 'arms' that end in stout claws. The claws of the shed skin are visible at the top of the chamber and are a dark reddish-brown colour.

And here's a grown-up, adult Chernes cimicoides or Common Tree Chernes as they are known.

A pseudoscorpion sitting facing right on a piece of brown tree bark. The pseudoscorpion is reddish-brown in colour with a pale line down the centre of its abdomen which is divided into segments separated by thin, pale lines. It has a pair of pedipalps (arm-like limbs) folded back to either side of its body that end in powerful stubby claws.
