House wildlife. I mentioned a couple of days ago that in recent nights I've had a Giant House Spider (Eratigena sp.) running back and forth in the living room. Last night I managed to get a phone photo of him when he stopped briefly by my slipper. @britishspiders.bsky.social

House wildlife. This Giant House Spider (Eratigena sp.) was in my bedroom last night. He's been in the wars a bit and sadly missing two legs one side, but was otherwise okay. I offered him some water before putting him back, though he didn't want any. @britishspiders.bsky.social #londonwildlife

Garden birding. A Chiffchaff paid a visit to the garden this morning to use the bird bath. These photos were taken just after that, when it was preening. This is a bird I often see/hear locally, but very rarely in the garden. #londonbirds

Local wildlife. There are still Common Blue butterflies (Polyommatus icarus) visiting the wildflower area at West Sutton station, particularly when it's sunny. This slightly worn male was one of at least two there this afternoon. @savebutterflies.bsky.social #londonwildlife

Local wildflowers. I saw this climbing Rose with striking red thorns at Mitcham Junction Tram stop yesterday. I presume it's a wild flower, but I've not been able to identify it conclusively.

Local wildflowers. I found what I think is a Wild Cyclamen plant (Cyclamen hederifolium) at Quadrant House, Sutton, this morning. Oddly, it didn't appear to have any leaves. #londonwildlife

Garden birding. I was eating lunch in the garden today when this surprisingly tame Robin appeared near and even below me looking for some food. The paler stuff below it in the photo is crumbed 'buggy nibbles' I subsequently put down, but it wasn't too keen on them! #londonbirds

Sutton Peregrines. 1/4. Four birds were present at various times today - the main adult male and adult female were together at one point, though it wasn't really a courtship display. The 2025 male was on a ledge this morning, and a juvenile male was on camera pm. Main adult male in 1/4.

Garden/house wildlife. I found another Spitting Spider (Scytodes thoracica) in the kitchen today. It was on a roll of kitchen towels that I had taken out of a cupboard. My 4th recent sighting, the others being on 12/08, 15/08 & 02/09 (the one on 02/09 only had 6 legs). @britishspiders.bsky.social

Sutton Peregrines. 1/2. This afternoon the 2025 male was followed in by the adult female. He started some courtship calls/behaviour but she didn't really respond, and stayed sitting on the wall.

Garden/house wildlife. I found this tiny (about 1mm overall) sub-adult jumping spider yesterday on the kitchen wall, near the back door. Thanks to Daniel Oakes on the UK Spiders Facebook group for identifying it as Ballus chalybeius - a new one for me/here! @britishspiders.bsky.social

Local birding. Sadly, the Woodpigeon nest I've been watching in Sutton has failed. There were two small chicks last Friday but the nest is now empty, presumably having been predated. I did have a good look around in the undergrowth below, but there was no sign of anything.

Garden wildlife. Firstly, I disturbed a nice Woodlouse Spider (Dysdera sp.) when I moved a bin, then I saw two Zebra Spiders (Salticus scenicus) on a bin - I thought it would be interesting to see what happened when they met, but the one on the lid panicked and ran away! @britishspiders.bsky.social

Sutton Peregrines. 1/3. The adult female appeared on camera this morning, the first time I've seen her for a few days. She briefly made a courtship call and went down to the nest area (2/3) and did a very brief scrape in the gravel.
