At a glance, it looks like a mix of safe well-established poets and representatives of key groups/issues -- which is not to say that the individual poets and collections aren't deserving, but that it fits my impression of prize culture as primarily a sort of diplomatic/political process.

Having seen the Joyce Carol Oates very bad, not good tweet about romance and AI, I can't help thinking about the way that romance has been treated as a punching bag for so long and always by people who are completely unwilling to engage with the genre and know little about it.

Every time I have a two-hand problem (similar sized objects, very different functions and destinations) I always think, “I deposited the MANUSCRIPT in the BASSINET, and the BABY…” It’s saved me more times than I can count.
