I'm so thankful to Becky and her mom for their trust, generosity, and strength in front of the Supreme Court. No matter what the Court says, Becky is a hero for standing up for herself and trans girls like her. Doing what's right, even when the odds are against you, is the definition of courage.

Every choice that is removed from teachers in the classroom and from fields of study (grading, books, available topics) delegitimizes those fields and the broader institutions. Imagine a mechanic who didn’t get to choose what tools they could have in their workshop?

In Louisiana and likely Alabama, actual, cast votes are going to be tossed out as officials speed ahead with new (or previously enjoined) maps. This is such an extreme use case for the Purcell principle that the court ignoring it here signifies that it was always a made-up toy, not law.

A must-read from UCLA law prof Dave Marcus, who was actually in the room when it happened. www.dorfonlaw.org/2026/05/mean...
On Tuesday, April 21, UCLA Law's Federalist Society chapter hosted a lunchtime event with James Percival, general counsel at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. Shortly after the event's conclusion, carefully selected video clips of moments from the hour began to circulate online. These misleading clips have gone viral, fueled in part by
Trump Administration social media accounts. The event has become the latest skirmish in a relentless conservative campaign to discredit universities as bastions of illiberal wokeness. Critics of UCLA Law claim that our administration failed to protect a speaker from gross violations of free speech and civility, and that UCLA students are afraid to
debate ideas. I was there. What happened is not what you have
heard.

PICTURED: an easy guide on who gutted the Voting Rights Act
a Photoshop of the Supreme Court judges: back row: Amy Coney Barrett (white adult female in a white KKK robe), Neil Gorsuch (white adult male in a white KKK robe), Brett Kavanaugh (white adult male in a white KKK robe), Ketanji Brown Jackson (Black adult female in a Supreme Court justice robe).

front row: Sonia Sotomayor (Hispanic adult female in a Supreme Court justice robe), Clarence Thomas (Black adult male in a white KKK robe), John Roberts, Samuel Alito (white adult male in a white KKK robe), and Elena Kagan (Jewish adult female in a Supreme Court justice robe).

they are all photographed in front of a red curtain.

Sonia, Elena, and Ketanji's faces were also changed with serious/disgusted faces as opposed to their smiling faces in the original photo.

this was made to show how the Republican Supreme Court judges all voted to kill the Voting Rights Act. each of the Ku Klux Klan robes has the Blood Drop Cross symbol which is normally shown on a KKK robe.

Things are so bad that the Minnesota prison system has had to launch a website specifically to combat DHS lies. The first major release from DOC officials suggests Gregory Bovino outright lied about the target of the Border Patrol operation during which agents shot and killed Alex Pretti.
KARE 11: Minnesota DOC launches new website to 'address ongoing misinformation by DHS'
The DOC names Border Patrol Commander Greg Bovino directly in a statement.Minnesota Department of Corrections Statement on Minneapolis Shooting and Federal Claims
January 24, 2026
The Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC) extends its condolences to the family and loved ones of Alex Pretti, who was shot and killed by federal agents this morning in Minneapolis. The loss of life is tragic, and Minnesotans deserve transparency, accountability, and facts.

In the hours following the shooting, U.S. Border Patrol Chief Gregory Bovino held a press conference asserting that the operation was targeting an individual named Jose Huerta-Chuma and characterized him as having a significant criminal history. Because federal statements have repeatedly included inaccurate information about Minnesota custody and criminal records, the DOC reviewed available records to determine whether the individual referenced had any connection to Minnesota state prison custody.ased on DOC records and publicly available Minnesota court data:

The individual identified by federal officials has never been in Minnesota DOC custody.
DOC and court records show no felony commitments associated with this
Public Minnesota court records reflect only misdemeanor-level traffic offenses from more than a decade ago.
The individual is not currently under DOC supervision.
DOC records further indicate that an individual by this name was previously held in federal immigration custody in a local Minnesota jail in 2018, during President Trump’s first administration. Any decisions regarding release from federal custody at that time would have been made by federal authorities. DOC has no information explaining why this individual was released.

I wrote this almost 11 years ago theweek.com/articles/444...
When heavy military equipment is taken from its original context and placed in the hands of a domestic law-enforcement agency with little training in wartime scenarios, it becomes nothing more than an instrument of intimidation. It simply has no other purpose. Wearing jungle camouflage in an urban setting, pointing guns at civilians, driving around pointlessly in an armored personnel carrier — all of these egregiously violate military best practices. This is playing soldier dress-up to scare the pants off the locals — except the guns are real.

Notice also how many of these riot cops have their faces completely covered by gas masks and insect goggles. That is almost never seen in recent wars, because covering the face makes a soldier look less human, which is directly at odds with modern counterinsurgency thinking.

But covering the face to dehumanize the enemy is a common feature in first-person shooter games (like Half Life 2 and the Killzone series), where the player often has to slaughter them by the score. Doing it to oneself is, I think, a deliberate effort to broaden the emotional distance between law enforcement and the people who are being forced into submission.

It turns out that when you put normal cops into soldier gear, you don't get soldiers. You get paramilitary goons.
