We are more free than our grandmothers. Our granddaughters will be more free than us. Fascists, rapists, eugenicists, and every kind of hierarchical piece of shit will push back every step of the way, but they will not triumph.

Keep fighting because you're stubborn. Because fuck them. Keep fighting because you can't sleep or breathe if you don't. Liberation is not the project of a single election cycle, a lifetime, or a generation. Despair and cynicism are intolerable selfishness.

I'm having this conversation in every left-oriented space. The reward for doing this work must not be measured in big wins. We must keep going because *it is right and necessary*. Don't expect to get to the mountain top in your life. We are links in an endless chain of liberation.

Take time off when you need it. Take the best possible care of yourself. Do not wait for a win to give yourself a break or some grace. But if a little voice whispers that it's hopeless and you should kneel, that isn't coming from inside you. It's poison implanted by our enemies.

I also know, I’ve spent my life as a man. Whether I’ve been a “real man” or a “good man” is not a question I find valuable, because involving the word man, by many societal measures, comes into conflict with decency too often. I’m just trying to be a decent person, manliness included or not.

Very saddened to say I won’t be able to headline Tim Pool’s student event in Chicago this week. I unfortunately have other plans.
Hi Katherine,
Timcast Media is partnering with the Chicago Thinker to host a student event in Chicago on October 9 at 4:00 PM.
The event will feature a one-on-one conversation with Tim Pool followed by a live student Q&A. To create a dynamic and balanced dialogue, we are specifically seeking a featured guest to represent a left-leaning perspective.
Timcast Media will fully cover and arrange all travel and accommodations.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Sincerely,
[REDACTED]

Hi Lisa,
Sorry, I'll be too busy slamming my hand in a car door that day to talk with Tim. Hope you understand.
Kat

I fully understand gallows humor and I'm not shaming anyone who is making jokes. But this is an old man who should be in a rocking chair somewhere watching netflix or the sunset and instead he's being manipulated into stripping us of our rights and we're letting him.

underrated part of El-Sayed’s messaging strategy seems to be shaming journalists who ask dumb questions that play into right-wing frames. you can’t answer these in a way that satisfies them, but you can make it embarrassing enough that you impose a toll on asking.
Abdul El-Sayed: "Weijia, with all due respect, this is the third time you've asked about a Twitch streamer ... their whole game is to make us fight culture wars so that we don't pay attention to the fact the president has made $2.2 billion ... "

One of the tricks that has been played on us is convincing folks there's always a "reasonable, moderate" stance in every debate. But actually, when the question is "does someone have rights or not" there is no moderate position between those two beliefs.

The most absolutely massive flex from the state fair exhibit. This quilt is made of 40 years of prize ribbons from various categories at the New Mexico State Fair won by Carol St. Clair Johnson. She also won a prize for this quilt.

satin ribbons

After unexpectedly winning her first blue ribbon for a sewn cape in 1981, Carol St. Clair Johnson developed an enduring love for the New Mexico State Fair. The quilt Fair New Mexico-41 Fair Years incorporates more than six hundred of the ribbons she won at the fair every subsequent year except 2020 (when the fair was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic). Johnson earned ribbons for needlework, knitting, crochet, pies, cookies, cakes, canning, jewelry, flowers, vegetables, and potted plants. The title of the quilt is a reference to the state song, and the design places the state's Zia sun symbol at the center. The quilt earned Johnson yet another ribbon: Best in Category (miscellaneous quilt) at the 2023 New Mexico State Fair.

Write it on the blackboard a thousand times: they will have to demolish the ballroom, the arch and so forth. They will have to make a show of it. You will get the usual sons of bitches saying we don’t do that in this country. We do now. That is not emotion, it’s politics. To do less is dereliction.

As long as the economy is shaped the way it is, people in the US are never going to have the time and resources to live fulfilling lives that include holding power accountable. If power isn’t held accountable, corruption becomes rampant. Politicians and wealth want to hide that, at all costs.

People fall for it because they see distancing themselves from the current victim as a way to protect themselves from a dangerous entity. It always backfires. It makes the abuser of power *more* powerful, which expands their list of potential victims.

Every subsequent U.S. president who tries to do a modicum of good via foreign policy or trade is going to be sitting across from someone thinking yeah sure, okay, but what about the next guy. Absent political reforms, tribunals and truth and reconciliation, that credibility is gone forever.

My only comment about Woke 1 vs Woke 2 is that neither of these things is real &, for the thousandth time, we don’t have to frame <every topic in American politics> on the terms of the far right authoritarian party & right-wing pundits. Other, more serious choices are readily available:
