"Notes from the Sex Worker Left" by @drheatherberg.bsky.social highlights the unruly thinkers who are at the vanguard of radical theorizing on family, work, the state, and community care, drawing on interviews with sex workers and their writings. Check out the intro for free: buff.ly/fKIQIDz
Cover of Notes from the Sex Worker Left: Lumpen Theory by Heather Berg. The cover features a watercolor painting of three individuals holding their faces close together with eyes closed. The central figure’s mouth is open showing teeth and bright red lips. The painting uses a navy blue for linework and shading. The title is written in the same blue in an all caps serif font in the bottom right. The subtitle is below in a fleshy pink. the author’s name is to the left in black.

Transphobia is a losing strategy. If you’re telling trans people to eat shit for the cause you either know this and want cover for your own transphobia or you don’t know this and think it’s morally acceptable to mark some bodies and lives for death in the name of expediency. Fix your hearts or die.

The real "administrative bloat" in education is the money that schools are being forced to fork over to tech vendors that can just keep jacking up their prices year after year, because it would cost even more to rebuild the systems and retrain the people that were built/trained on that tech.

It seems we need a reminder that the Luddites did not hate technology. The were, in fact, technology experts who objected to the dehumanization and abuse of workers by investors and factory owners through new technologies.

Writing means doing a shit-ton of research, then writing, then thinking you're saying something, realizing you've approached the limit of your knowledge on a sub-topic, going away to read more, realizing you actually mean something else better or more specific, then doing it all over again.

World Cup VAR is horrible. It’s the Palantir-ization of football. Instead of human judgment being the arbiter of fairness, it makes sport an extension of a surveillance state where machines make decisions so no one is accountable. Colombia losing a goal to a PS2 pixelated toe is a fucking absurdity.
Computer generated image of Colombia vs Portugal where FIFA’s VAR system rendered a PS2 level graphic that ruled a goal was offside due to a player’s toe
