Everyone needs to get off twitter. Why are we sharing screenshots of anon accounts verbally abusing women on that platform and calling it “EconTwitter”? Twitter is dead, man. Sharing screenies from there, etc. makes you part of the problem re: continuing to legitimize it.

And yes, a perfect example I see all the time is the rich, white neighborhoods I’ve been in folks don’t even talk to one another while the diverse neighborhoods I’ve lived in are so much more vibrant and community oriented. Like it’s VERY obvious.

I think there’s a lot to unpack like the generations of colonizer/oppressor mindsets of our ancestors paired with the America’s rugged individualism and greed and, yes, I’m positive there is a racism component involved as well ingrained throughout all the above.

Something I’ve noticed as I’ve gotten older is how white folks struggle significantly more with creating and maintaining community than other races do, even amongst ourselves, and it’s a serious problem we need to acknowledge and address.

I was shocked the ads kept running, bc I woulda thought this was a “pull of the air immediately” situation but apparently not. Cooper’s team had to run ads solely to fact check the fake ads.

There’s something similar happening with the senate race in NC and I believe they (Roy Cooper) did sue the people running the false ads (2 of them). The ads have run for weeks even after it came out they were false AND the folks in them were lied to abt how footage would be used.

Yes and/but even once this stuff exists we also have to educate the masses and make sure it’s accessible, we are very much still in the early adopter stage of all that - there’s a long road ahead of not just building it, but being able to explain it to your average (and not so average) joe.
