I knew who I was this morning, but I’ve changed a few times since then. I regret to report I still have a lot of opinions. Hobbies: writing, horror, cheese.

I was reminded tonight one of my superlatives was most opinionated, which makes my bio really funny. And my male co-opinionator is running for office right now, so I guess we both lived up to our role 😂💀

I read it. It is NOT about yesterday, it’s from April 2026 and details an attack from April 15, 2026! Stop spreading misinformation.
The attack disrupted feeds, notifications, threads, and search, causing intermittent outages. A pro-Iran hacker group, called 313 Team (aka "Islamic Cyber Resistance in Iraq"), claimed responsibility, highlighting growing threats against social media platforms and the impact of coordinated disruption campaigns.

"Our team received a report of intermittent app outages at about 11:40pm PDT on April 15, 2026. They worked through the night to mitigate a sophisticated Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack, which intensified throughout the day." Bluesky announced.
"We have not seen any evidence of unauthorized access to private user data."
The company found no signs of data breaches and confirmed it limited the impact of the attack and avoided prolonged outages.

313 Team is a pro-Iran hacktivist group tied to politically driven cyber activity like DDoS attacks, defacements, phishing, and data-leak claims. It targets public services, government and symbolic platforms to create disruption and amplify geopolitical tensions.
Analysts link it to the broader Iran-aligned ecosystem, sometimes close to state interests. However, the group often exaggerates its impact, so claims should be treated with caution.

Photos for reference. And for the record, I take good care of my things. They are stored properly, maintained, etc. bc I want them to last, so there’s just really no excuse for this shit from companies whose shoes are $100+ (even if I don’t pay that price for them). This is $20 shoe behavior.
One of three photos of nude, open-toed Michael Kors heels, you can see the insole where the the arch of your foot would be is separating from the shoe - despite the stitching design, it has clearly simply been glued down. Two of three photos of nude, open-toed Michael Kors heels, this photo is from the side to show the overall condition of the shoe, there’s no major scuffing, etc. it shows the shoes have been worn
But not over worn. Three of three photos of nude, open-toed Michael Kors heels, this photo is from the bottom to show the overall condition of the shoe. You can see the shoes have been lightly worn but all the treads, etc. are still full, the wear can mostly be seen in discoloration. Side view of a pair of burgundy Nike wedges, although only one shoe is pictured - the toes of both shoes have completely separated from the soles despite the stitching design, because they were glued in as you can see in the photo between the finger and white sole.

Why do folks feel the need to do all this? If you don’t like it here, leave. I thought Twitter had bad vibes because of the users there. You know what I did? Deleted my account and found a platform I actually enjoyed, which happens to be this one. Not everything is for everyone, that’s okay.
Corey Atad
@coreyatad.com
it's why despite the activity on here, and more people clicking links, etc, the site still gives people bad vibes. the pile-ons are one thing, but those happen on all social media. it's that the typical mode here is one of distanced engagement, occasionally doing a 180 into angry gatekeeping.
7:43 AM • May 24, 2026

Corey Atad @coreyatad.com • 3h and fwiw, the users are definitely the problem here, because in a way it's why they came here. to escape the constant, ugly drama of other sites and protect against that. but the platform itself is a problem. so much effort toward self-moderation has meant a culture of people talking to themselves.

There’s nothing wrong with them. Many people have simply fallen victim to dandelion propaganda (years of cultural conditioning telling us maintaining a manicured lawn is a sign of being a responsible citizen) I fear 😂 it’s even naturalized in all 50 states now, so it’s considered a native plant!
Originally brought to North America as a medicinal and nutritious edible herb, the common dandelion was purposely cultivated by early settlers as a food source. Named Dent de Lion (lion's tooth) in French for the serrated leaves, the common dandelion also earned the nickname pissenlit (pee in the bed) for its rumored diuretic qualities.

So how did this cheertul yellow flower become so hated? In the 16th century, the nobility of England and France began cultivating lawns (though they were not always made of grass).
Because only the rich could afford to make room for unproductive land, lawns became a status symbol. A short expanse of green around the home became a symbol of wealth that only those with leisure time could maintain.

After the trend reached the United States post-Civil War, it was a slow trend to take hold but eventually became a status symbol. Particularly in the post-depression 1940s and 1950s when it was part of the "perfect home" view portrayed in early television. During that period and into the 1960s, some chemical companies took on the task of encouraging Americans to keep anything but grass out of their lawns using lab-derived herbicidal methods. Dandelions, as the most persistent wildflower, eventually came to symbolize neglect, laziness, and even poverty.

It’s interesting we are now in a time where racists think if they can’t take over the schools (they’re trying and succeeding in many places) that public schooling shouldn’t be mandatory so they can homeschool and indoctrinate their kids instead. We’ve been fighting this devil our entire history.
Claire Willett @clairewillett.bsky.soc... • 5m anyway the basic summary is that the Klan had control over the state's public schools, and they tried to pass a law that made it a crime not to send your kid to public school to learn racism. which would mean of course closing the Catholic schools, which opened up a workable angle of attack

Looking back after re-potting and that pic doesn’t do the overgrowth justice 😅 I spotted the roots wandering when I got it last winter—which isn’t the time to repot—so I put a little dirt in a bigger pot to cover the wanderers and just wintered it double potted 🌱 it worked, perhaps too well lol
Black pot with monstera roots busting out of the bottom, blue scissors are nearby as I attempt to remove the pot without damaging the roots.

Feeling like an apt metaphor for the moment we are living in collectively (and personally for myself) I added the quip “the old world is dying;; the new world struggles to be born” when I shared it on IG and this is is the only photo I have that shows the roots 😭Monstera with pot finally removed. There is hardly any dirt to be seen, the rootball was taking up nearly the entirely lot of miscellaneous gardening items can be seen in the background.

The generation that would later found the United States knew this history.
Many of them were only a few generations removed from Europe's religious carnage. They understood what happens when government claims divine authority and when faith is enforced by law. This is why they insisted on something radical for its time. The religious freedom for all, and a government that would not privilege one faith over another.
The First Amendment enshrined that conviction: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." This was not hostility toward religion. It was protection for religion and from religion.George Washington, in his Farewell Address, urged the young nation toward unity and warned against factions that would tear it apart. In a letter to the Hebrew Congregation of Newport, he declared that the government of the United States "gives to bigotry no sanction, to persecution no assistance." That was a breathtaking statement in a world still scarred by sectarian violence.
John Adams signed the Treaty of Tripoli in 1797, which explicitly stated that "the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion." This was not a rejection of Christianity. It was a clarification of the government's foundation. The treaty was unanimously ratified by the Senate.Benjamin Franklin consistently warned against entangling religion with governmental power, believing that faith flourishes best when it is voluntary, not coerced.
Thomas Jefferson spoke of a "wall of separation between Church & State," recognizing that when either crosses into the domain of the other, corruption follows.
James Madison argued forcefully that religion must be left to the conviction and conscience of every person, not imposed by civil authority.
These men were not perfect. Many were flawed and inconsistent, holding views and advocating standards that would bring devastating harm to indigenous peoples, people of color, and women. But they were deeply aware of Europe's bloody experiment with "Christian nations." They intentionally chose another path. That is why the enduring myth that America was founded as a Christian nation is not only historically inaccurate, it is dangerous. It ignores the founders' deliberate rejection of religious establishment. And it misunderstands Jesus, who never called his followers to control empires in his name.
Jesus did not gather armies. He gathered disciples. He did not enforce loyalty to him. He invited relationship. He did not legislate allegiance to God. He called for repentance and love.

Arguing OpEd sections should be “making a case” for Nazi policy is CERTAINLY A CHOICE. The policy isn’t “bad” Jill, it’s fascism, it’s authoritarianism - I hope this helps!

The job of an op/ed page is not to only publish the "right" opinions. If a topic, policy, or decision is in the news / under discussion at the highest levels, the op/ed page at a national newspaper should be publishing pieces that make the case for that policy or decision. Even if the policy is bad!

This idea that the NYT is some sort of right-wing rag because they sometimes publish conservatives and do reporting that doesn't always 100% accord with what advocacy groups want is just one of the most demented and reality-eschewing theories to take hold on the left. Truly bizarre and sad to see.

Interesting note about this chart: Republicans won control of the North Carolina legislature in the 2010 election. Look what happened immediately afterwards. (Per Carolina Forward)

The journalists didn’t think Green Day’s performance was political either, I guess bc they’ve never heard American Idiot. Idk if they’re scared to write it or if they’re just dense. Bad Bunny has deadass been wearing a bullet proof vest man—everything is political, especially now. Try again!
Screenshot of ending of Bad Bunny Super Bowl performance. Everyone is wearing white and khaki, he holds a football that says “together we are America” with flags from the Americas waving behind him and fireworks.

Same table and chairs btw 😬 🗺️ Pitt County, North Carolina (ENC)
Night time photo of a patio with black patio furniture covered in snow. The snow is so deep in places it reaches all the way to the seat of the chairs and is stacked on the table.
