Just no. Sorry but I’m actually rolling my eyes a bit at some of the gushing. We’re in an existential battles against the forces of bigotry and Burnham is failing. No amount of Labourite ‘charisma’ is going to dissuade me from viewing that as a core moral failure.

This has provoked a lot of anger, rightfully, but while Thornberry is pulling her punches and should have challenged this much earlier, I do think her intervention is very much welcome, particularly as she hasn’t gone with the line that it’s too cruel to care workers but fine for everyone else

"You will never defeat us" is a very funny thing to say after you've just bailed everyone who was involved in whatever the fuck this was
All five men arrested in RAF base plot are British nationals
The five men who were arrested and subsequently released on bail are all British citizens, home secretary Shabana Mahmood has just told the Labour party conference.

She adds that the scene is “now safe” and the residents living near to the RAF base are now able to return home.

“Let this be a reminder: you will never defeat us,” he says.

I’m getting deeply pissed off at the dismissal of casting my vote on what Labour has done to the right to protest, to trans people, to asylum seekers, a Labour Party that currently has a mass deportation policy on the books, as ‘expressive politics’, as if I’m somehow not using my brain

Since coming to power, Labour has become the single worst government on human rights in many people's living memory. The changes they have already made to immigration/asylum, trans individuals and disabled people are already causing severe harm. Pushing further on this will only destroy more lives.

Settlement reforms are not "visa reforms" - a crucial misunderstanding. The visa reforms already made the post-2026 rules much tighter (so the settlement reforms will have little impact on future work arrivals) Combining them = mass remigration 2027/30 of middle-income workers (maybe unwittingly)

Just to say what complete scumbags the FAI and Micheál Martin are for putting Irish players in this position.
Tweet from Daniel Lambert, September 26th: Hearing from several sources around Ireland hotel that agents are telling players you must play our you'll never play for a US owned team in the UK.

How grim and predictable from faceless agents who profit in the background.

You know that saying about how the way they treat asylum seekers is the way they’d treat everyone else if they thought they could get away with it? Well,
The Tories said the reduced subsistence allowance would be loaded onto pre-paid card that would not allow cash withdrawals, and would "prevent spending" on alcohol, cigarettes, or gambling.
The party is yet to detail how its proposal would work, but shadow welfare secretary Helen Whately said it would be "a version" of the pre-paid Aspen card issued to asylum seekers living in government-funded accommodation.
These cards cannot be used to make contactless, telephone or internet payments, whilst asylum seekers whose applications have failed cannot withdraw cash.
