Some good points made in this blog post from the Open Book Collective about the potential local and international benefits of being part of the OPERAS UK node. @operaseu.bsky.social @anna-r-hughes.bsky.social #OAbooks #OpenInfrastructure #OpenAccess
A screenshot with text from this article (some of which I have highlighted) which says:

[Highlighted text] I think there’s also an opportunity to encourage deeper, more sustained UK-wide collaboration. We’ve learned a lot from the successes of initiatives like Copim, OIPA and Scottish Universities Press, but there can still be an element of siloisation. OPERAS UK could become a genuine space where library consortia, university presses, infrastructure providers, and researcher communities can come together to coordinate around open books. Not to tell people what to do, but to help organisations discover each other, share what’s working, and collaborate on challenges that are bigger than any single institution can solve. [Highlighted text]

I also think there’s an important role to play in terms of advocacy. As OPERAS moves toward formal ERIC status (visit the OPERAS-PRIME project page for more information), UK organisations need to understand what that means, what it requires, and what opportunities or obligations might flow from it. This is obviously looking into the future and there’s a lot still up in the air but questions need to be asked. How will UK funding work within an ERIC structure?

Hear from the finalists of the 2026 @acls1919.bsky.social #OpenAccess Book Prizes & Arcadia #OpenAccess Publishing Awards, including OBP's Joanna Page! Joanna is shortlisted for her book, 'Decolonial Ecologies: The Reinvention of Natural History in Latin American Art'. buff.ly/ZWK1Tw4
The book in three formats (hardback, tablet and smartphone) on a colourful background alongside text that says:

'Decolonial Ecologies' is an original and heartening contribution to ecocritical scholarship. Through the study of how past understandings of nature and natural history have been folded into current art from Latin America, Joanna Page foregrounds new possibilties for thought and action brought about by local knowledges and Indigenous epistemologies. The book not only puts European and Latin American art and theoretical production into dialogue, it also opens new avenues of research for those interested in imagining (less catastrophic) relationships between art and the Anthropocene.
