We are very happy to announce the publication of Homo Textor: Weaving as (Technical) Mode of Existence, edited by Ellen Harlizius-Klück, Annapurna Mamidipudi, Giovanni Fanfani, and Alex McLean. www.matteringpress.org/books/homo-t...
A photo of two books. One lying flat on a shelf, spine facing outwards, the other standing up on top, cover facing outward. The book cover is titled Homo Textor, in orange, below which is a stylised representation of interwoven dark grey and orange flat thread, forming two square spirals, with ragged cloth edges on all sides, over a light grey background.

2: Energy, Laura Watts
"Energy cannot end and it cannot be made. Energy is always conserved, physics tells us. In some ways, it has no future and no past. It can only change form, shifting through one artefact, place, body and time, into another. So what might be the biography of one little flash of a photon carried in a fibre optic cable?"

Yay! This is a very fun project where academics were asked to take a swing at what the future might hold--something we're often reluctant to do. I've got a chapter on super/semiconductors, and the coming revolution (or not?) in the material basis of computation.
