He served as the executive director of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences from 1989 through 2011 and penned an authoritative history of the organization, 'The Academy and the Award.'

Bruce Davis, who served as chief executive of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for more than 20 years, has died. He was 83.
