🤡 Schmitt beclowns himself 🤡 Schmitt concocted an elaborate conspiracy theory that Smith traveled to Atl for a Hawks game and to collude with Fani Willis, & flashed his "evidence" before accusing Smith of perjury. There's just one problem -- his facts were totally wrong. Here's the whole sequence:

Normally, I would not presume to speak for the entire bi community, but I feel confident in doing so here: LAUREN BOEBERT IS NOT OURS. WE ARE NOT TAKING HER. She and Kyrsten Sinema can form their own special thing if they want, but SHE IS NOT OURS.

He loved poker and card games and crossword puzzles and mysteries. He loved serious academic study and also mischief. He had a great laugh and he was generous with it. I haven't even mentioned the beekeeping. He was an amazing person and I will miss him.

He loved cats, of which he had many over the years, and wrote a short essay about each after they died to make sure he would remember each one and what made them unique.

He loved the carved wood of billy clubs, but he also loved it that they were also correctly called nightsticks, police batons, or truncheons. Is there another object that has four English names? He would have wanted you to do your own work on that.

He loved words themselves. He was fascinated by the (apparent) fact that no European language seems to have borrowed a word for "butterfly." Psyche, mariposa, papillon, schmetterling--all beautifully different. Something people noticed and had to name early on.

My dad died on Saturday. He was brilliant and handsome and funny and tough to sum up. He loved books of all kinds and loved movies to distraction. He loved watching movies and teaching film and dedicated a lot of his career to preserving film and film history.
This photo shows my dad swimming with tiny me in a life ring in the Severn river. I know it seems like he should be closer, but this was basically helicopter parenting at the time.

I have decided that Dolly Parton and Tim Curry are the far swing of a pendulum. They have closed up the tear of absurdity that opened up when David Bowie and Prince left. Things will gradually start to get less stupid and horrifying from here on out. I will not be taking any questions.

If it looks like an Amazon delivery and drives like an Amazon delivery, then it's an Amazon delivery, right? Not according to Amazon. Big companies like Amazon have built a vast network of subcontractors who deliver their packages while shielding them from accountability.

I worked for New York’s largest medical center at the start of the pandemic. There were morgue trucks on the streets. They set up emergency medical tents in Central Park. Healthcare worker colleagues died. It is horrific that RFK Jr is on national TV lying that ICUs were empty.

Relatedly, a reminder that "AI" will just make shit up about you
"What corrective surgery did John Scalzi have that he's written about"

John Scalzi had cataract surgery to correct his vision.

On his popular blog, Whatever, he written about dealing with cataracts and how the corrective procedure effectively altered his eyesight. Because the synthetic replacement lenses in his eyes do not possess the natural ability to refocus, he jokingly points out that his most "extroverted glasses" are actually no glasses at all—leaving him with sharp distance vision but requiring him to take them off entirely to check his phone or read up close.

Would you like to know more about how his personal medical reflections influence his science fiction, or perhaps his other writing about health and the human body?

dolohkov: An Old English word for library was "bochord", which literally means "book hoard", and honestly I really think we should go back to saying that because not only does it sound really cool, but it also sort of implies that librarians are dragons.
