“So it was, on that misty morning, that Brenda set off for the capital. She knew not what she would find there, only that the time had come to move on - away from small-minded rural attitudes and people who called her ‘Oreo’ and ‘the wide panda’ - to seek a more fulfilling life.”
A belted galloway cow walking into the mist, on a Dorset lane, towards a bold, unpredictable future. You can see half of my car in the background. It looks remarkably clean, by normal standards. When one of my wife's work colleagues asked her "What car does your husband drive?" she answered "I can't remember what make it is but it's the really dirty one that sometimes turns up in the car park here" and her colleague immediately said "Oh yes, I know the one."

Join us for this event tomorrow night, it's going to be awesome. Auslan interpretation and live captioning will be available. REGISTER: bit.ly/PFP-online
Rick Morton will join Cheyanne – who contributed to the Commonwealth Ombudsman’s investigation into the Targeted Compliance Framework and features in the documentary alongside Jesse – to discuss the background to the investigation, what welfare recipients need from policies that affect us and how both the media and government are failing to grapple with the unfair and unlawful use of penalties affecting millions of people. We will share information about:

how people subjected to compulsory activities can assert their rights in the current system;

what actions we are taking, and what other welfare recipients can do, to reveal more evidence of harmful and unlawful penalties; and

employment minister Amanda Rishworth’s recent (un)employment services announcement, what it means for welfare recipients, and the “consultation” process.

Have been in hospital all day with my 4yo as he gets chemo for his leukaemia and as always while here I can’t stop thinking of how the churches in Jerusalem begged the Israeli govt to let them treat kids with cancer in Gaza—promising to cover every part of the cost and transport—and Israel said no.
Statement of Support for the Work of Augusta Victoria Hospital in Treating Children with Cancer from Gaza
December 17, 2025
We, the Patriarchs and Head of the Churches Jerusalem, respectfully request from the relevant Israeli authorities permits to allow children in Gaza who have been diagnosed with leukemia to travel to the Augusta Victoria Hospital on the Mount of Olives to receive specialized treatment that is only available to them there.
Augusta Victoria is prepared to arrange for not only the transportation, but also the full care and treatment of these young and vulnerable patients, who will then be returned by the hospital to their homes in Gaza at the end of their treatment.
We make this appeal on humanitarian grounds. The treatment for this disease is not available in Gaza, and it has the potential to transform the lives of those afflicted with it. There will be no burden on the government for any cost, since it will all be borne by the hospital.
We urge permission for the treatment of these young patients to be granted as soon as possible. As with any disease, the swift delivery of treatment is essential for a good outcome. We therefore hope very much that the responsible authorities will see fit that these patients receive the medically necessary care that the excellent facilities of Augusta Victoria Hospital can provide, in order that these children can begin their journeys to recovery and health.

Kmart exploits disabled people on a "supported wage" that allows them to pay as little as $2.50 an hour. They certainly don't offer the "high quality jobs" the minister was promising yesterday. Kmart shouldn't be allowed anywhere near what they refer to as ~vulnerable~ people.
Screencap of the Kmart EBA showing that the supported wage rates they use pay people as little as 10 per cent of the minimum wage.

One thing I learned a few years ago is that employment services providers are authorised via the 'Employment Fund' to pay for your food and rent if that's a barrier to looking for work. FROM THE LAST BUDGET: 'As at 31 January 2026, there was $684.4 million in unspent Employment Fund Credits'.
Currently, Employment Fund expenditure is expected to be less than the value of the available credits, creating an accumulating surplus of credits that present a contingent liability. As at 31 January 2026, there was $684.4 million in unspent Employment Fund Credits in the Workforce Australia Online Employment Fund, Workforce Australia Services Employment Fund, Broome Employment Services Employment Fund and Yarrabah Employment Services Employment Fund).

"Supporters are FUMING.
