Data from national Danish registries examining risk of venous thromboembolism, ischaemic stroke and myocardial infarction with menopausal hormonal therapy. TLDR- absolute increase in risk with oral MHT is small, eg. 0.009% for VT. And no increase in risk with transdermal MHT. 🎉

The disparity between breast cancer survival in high and low income countries is HUGE 💔. The @who.int Global Breast Cancer Initiative (GBCI) could avert 2.5 million deaths by 2040. Raise awareness! Talk to colleagues! Write to leaders! Post and repost! Let's do it. 🤗🙏 #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth
Summary findings
Global median five-year breast cancer survival: 77.8%
between 2017-2021

Low-income countries:
41.9% five-year survival
(fewer than 1 in 2 women)

High-income countries:
87.3% five-year survival
(nearly 9 in 10 women)Closing the gaps in breast cancer care
The WHO Global Breast Cancer Initiative (GBCI brings countries and partners together to reduce inequalities in breast cancer outcomes and save lives.
The initiative aims to achieve
three targets:
• 60% of invasive breast cancers are diagnosed at stage I or II
• 60 days from the first detection or presentation of symptoms at health facility to getting a diagnosis
• 80% of people diagnosed with breast cancer receive the recommended complete treatment

Nowhere on Earth will you see a greater biomass of Chihuahuas than in Mexico City. In recent years, though, two Mexican animals are giving the tiny trembler a run for its money in Mexican art and design: xoloitzcuintle and this adorable lil fecker on 50-peso notes: the axolotl (aka el ajolote).
Detail from a 50 peso Mexican bank note depicting an axolotl. The accompanying text reads:

Ecosistema de ríos y lagos, con el ajolote y el maíz, en Xochimilco en la Ciudad de México, patrimonio cultural de la humanidad. [The river-and-lake ecosystem of Xochimilco, Mexico City, with the axolotl and maize, cultural heritage of humanity.]

October is #BreastCancerAwarenessMonth. Faye Browne's cancer was not seen on screening mammogram. It became symptomatic when a breast became *perkier*. “know what’s normal for your body and pay attention to any changes, not just lumps. Look, feel and take notice when something seems different.”

Closing soon on 18 Oct- Highlights from the White Rabbit Collection of Chinese Contemporary Art at HOTA on the GC. My highlights- a melting Titanic, a Transformer x ancient Tang dynasty sancai glaze, and a floating fairytale castle made of... Oh. I see. 😳🤣 Don't miss it!
A 'melting' Titanic in front of a video installation making fun of modern suicidal media culture- survivors bobbing about in the freezing sea still on their phones A huge ceramic Transformer coloured with classic 'drippy' green and yellow sancai glaze. A fairytale castle with turrets and a domed tower, suspended from the ceiling with ropes.Close-up of the castle, showing its construction from items of BDSM culture- belts, chains, whips, restraints etc.

Super important- 'Central chest pressure or tightness is the most common heart attack symptom in both women and men. Women are more likely... to have other symptoms, such as breathlessness, nausea or vomiting, unusual fatigue, or pain in the jaw, neck, arms or upper back'.

👇A welcome and compassionate change. Also FYI, I asked a JW elder once- what if a bleeding pt arrives unconscious and alone? He looked me in the eye and said 'what's done with good intent is neither a sin for the giver nor a sin for a pt who did not choose. God judges our hearts not our bodies'. 🙏❤️

Vaccines don’t cause autism. But vaccines can help prevent it. This study found an increase in autism rates among babies born with rubella, who were infected by their moms during pregnancy. Vaccinating against rubella with the MMR vaccine (measles, mumps, rubella) prevents infection.

I'm always thankful for socialized healthcare when I read posts like this from the US. '2.5 days in the hospital with surgery for a rod & 4 screws' in Canada, Australia, the UK etc = zero bill to insurance and zero bill to the patient. We must always fight to keep socialized healthcare. ✊️
