The image is of a four panel comic.
In panel one, we see a crow’s face. It says, “I AM DEATH’S MESSENGER”.
In panel two, we see the same crow’s face. It continues, “YOUR TIME IS NEAR”.
In panel four, we see the crow awkwardly hopping away from a stick figure.
In panel five, we see the grim reaper with the crow perched on his hand. The grim reaper says, “So you should probably fly away dramatically instead.”

About the book:
The long-awaited new book—with gorgeous, all-new art—by Brian Froud, the "grandfather of faerie art"

In this compelling collection, acclaimed women writers from around the world share words and stories of fantasy and myth alongside Brian Froud's provocative portraits of more than 70 Green Women. There are a range of voices, some humorous and witty, others nurturing and maternal, others dark and threatening.

New York Times bestselling and award-winning artist Brian Froud, who brought to life Trolls and Faeries, is also beloved for his conceptual design work with Jim Henson on the classic films The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. With Green Women, his gorgeous art illuminates an entirely new universe.

Open the pages of this gorgeous gift-ready book to meet the Green Women.

"While the Green Men peer down from their church roof bosses, and through their tendrils of oak and ivy, the Green Women move among us. Brian Froud has met more than a few of them. It's their eyes—deep wells of wisdom, stories and the slow, ancient song of the forest." —Alan Lee, artist and concept designer of the film adaptations of J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit

Mimic Octopuses (Thaumoctopus mimicus) are known for the fact they mimic several different kinds of animals, including sea snakes, flatfish, lionfish, anemones and more. They also seem to choose their disguise based on the predator they are trying to fool. #OCTOtober
A Mimic Octopus (Thaumoctopus mimicus) sityting on the sea floor. Its mantle is hanging behind it and its arms are holding it up and have the webbing partially inflated. It is facing forwards, towards the camera and its two fleshy horns above each eye are flopping to the left, pushed by the current, making the octopus look rather silly. Its arms are also being pushed left. The sea floor is a grey sand with many small rocks.A Mimic Octopus (Thaumoctopus mimicus) stick out of the sand with an interesting pose. It is some of standing up, with most of its arms going straight down all oriented sucker forward, its mantle hanging behind, and its eyes on top. Its two centre arms, which are on top on the outside in this pose, go out and curve back forming a sort of hood shape. It is unclear why the octopus is in this pose or if it is trying to mimic something. The octopus is brown with some white, and white on the underside of its arms. The arms have two rows of suckers in an offset zig-zag pattern. The sand is greyish.A Mimic Octopus (Thaumoctopus mimicus) sitting in the sand. Its head and mantle are visible, and long "horns" extend from above each eye. Its arms are wavy and extend behind it. It has a white and brown striped pattern.A Mimic Octopus (Thaumoctopus mimicus) going across the sandy seafloor which mimicking a zebra sole. It has body pressed flat against the seafloor, giving it a wide and flat appearance. It has an alternating maroon and pink/white pattern, but mostly maroon. Its arms have alternating stripes of maroon and pink, with its white suckers visible.

There was a robust trade in live eels in pre-modern England, & I know you're wondering: "How do I ship live eels?" Not in barrels of water. They'll use up the oxygen & die. Nope. You pack them in layers of damp moss or hay, & off you go. They don't need to be in water. Wut? 1/3 🗃️🧪
Meme. Medieval image showing a cooper making a barrel. He is leaning over the barrel with a wooden wedge in one hand, and a wooden mallet raised high in the other. He's about to strike, like a cobra (if the cobra were holding a wooden mallet).

The man has massively muscled forearms, and a sharply receding hairline. He's going bald, but he will arm wrestle you into submission if you bring it up. He is wearing a yellow apron with tools hanging from his belt, a light blue shirt, and a dark cowl. His grey hair speaks to his experience, and his calm look says that he hasn't noticed yet that he's in a meme.

On the wall behind his is a coil of rope, and something that might be a hat or a hood. It is, though, more fun to imagine that it is a fedora and a coiled whip, and that this man is actually Indiana Jones, taking a break from questionable archeology and bad pedagogy to make a few barrels.

Meme text reads:
"Lock, stock, and two
slithering
barrels of eels"

The Gloomshire map is officially complete. As usual, I worked with colored pencils, experimenting with the lighting to bathe the scenery in a turquoise glow, contrasted by deep purple shadows. Next up in this series: the cemetery 🌲🦇
Map of Gloomshire village in the center, divided by 3 main streets: 2 leading to the outside and one leading up to the mansion on top of the hill, down and to the right. There is a church near the well in the center of the village. To the right of the church are the inn and the guardhouse. The village is surrounded by a wooden fence with gates and watchtowers. Outside, a dense forest covers the surroundings.
