Jesus, all these epically mid guys thinking their freshman philosophy big thoughts are genius world-shaking epiphanies, and they can never make the jump to the next thought, aka, why their first was dumb as shit. Eat the rich.

“how do we win back trump voters in 2026” we don’t. we create an environment where admitting to voting for trump is so socially embarrassing as to render them completely inert. you don’t “win back” trump voters. you demoralize them into staying home. you make it a dunce cap

I feel genuinely sorry for the fanbase of the team that has to pick a QB at 1 or 2 in 2027 and pass on Smith. Hard to imagine a more can't-miss prospect in a minute.

Yeah, we learned in our public record request training that this is illegal. Fees cannot exceed the nominative cost of providing the records. FOIA violation. The highest I've ever seen is like $250 for audit & finance records, which take a few days to find & compile. Most are $0-20.

💯 This one kills me; having a strong social safety net and broadly distributed wealth means people can make a living doing little things they love in their communities w/out crumbling. Like, this is the ideal when we're not chained to the wheels of corporations & billionaires.

This is it for me. Like there's this well of voters who're like "I would vote for Dems, if only they abandon trans people", and it's f'ing insane. There's literally no one there. Meanwhile, they're lighting their base's votes on fire.

"This election is about the threat of trans kids" is the worst possible messaging for Dems yet so many candidates are leaning into it. No voter will flip R->D over it. Low-info voters read this as "you're focused on bullshit that doesn't affect me" while the base reads this as "you're an asshole."

A thought exercise for transphobic Democrats: replace the "transgender" with "Jewish" in the ads and notice how uncomfortable you suddenly get. There is slightly more trans people in the U.S. (0.95%) than German Jews (0.75%) before the Holocaust. Can't you see how dangerous your slippery slope is?

I dunno, as someone who's dealt with Portland Police for one thing or another, it's hard not feel similarly to @councilorgreen.bsky.social. In my experience, they're as a body dismissive, judgmental, lazy, and allergic to doing their actual jobs (when they aren't shooting houseless folks). So, 🤷‍♀️.

I'll stand on the weight classes hill. Eliminate gender divisions, top level is always open class, lower weights can play up. And yes, that means that the open classes will generally have more boys/men and lower weight classes more girls/women, but everyone gets to play if they want.

Underappreciated: US farmland *already substantially produces energy, not food*, and does so very inefficiently. Corn ethanol (~40% of all US corn) requires about 100 times more land per vehicle-mile driven than solar photovoltaics -> electric vehicles. Shifting corn to solar *would free up land*.

Not a coincidence that Oregon, which makes it easy to vote by automatically registering citizens when they get driver's licenses and then mails ballots with prepaid postage to every registered voter, had a turnout of nearly 42% in the May primary, 75%+ in presidential generals and 65%+ in midterms.

In the 1970s, a group of farmers digging a well stumbled upon one of the greatest archaeological finds in history. They had found the terracotta army—some 8,000 life-size clay soldiers, buried over 2,000 years ago. The soldiers had real weapons, **which were still sharp**. How? 1/8 ⚛️🧪

Good faith question I'm sure, but the actual answer is none. While you can draw a line in time anywhere to suit a particular narrative, no one was hatched out of an egg in a strange land. Literally everyone migrated from somewhere; it's the first principle of humanity.
