With alt text for anyone who needs it:
A purple chart by the Sexual Violence Center of Cork (whose logo of a few steps leading up to a door is is in the upper right hand corner of the image, titled: "How to avoid sexual assault! :A Quick And Easy Guide*." The asterisk goes to the bottom left, where it says "*for perpetrators."

There are six numbered lighter purple boxes, stacked in 2 rows and 3 columns. The text in the boxes says the following:

1. DON'T PUT DRUGS IN PEOPLE'S
DRINKS

2. USE THE BUDDY SYSTEM!
IF YOU CAN'T STOP YOURSELF FROM SEXUALLY ASSAULTING
SOMEONE, ASK A TRUSTED FRIEND TO ACCOMPANY YOU AT
ALL TIMES TO STOP YOU.

3. WHEN YOU COME ACROSS SOMEONE WHO IS DRUNK OR
ASLEEP, THE BEST THING TO DO IS
NOT RAPE THEM.

4. WHEN YOU SEE A WOMAN WALKING BY HERSELF, LEAVE
HER ALONE.

5. IF YOU ARE IN A LIFT AND
SOMEONE STEPS IN, REMEMBER NOT TO SEXUALLY ASSAULT THEM.

6. CARRY A WHISTLE. IF YOU THINK YOU MIGHT RAPE SOMEONE, BLOW THE WHISTLE UNTIL SOMEONE COMES TO STOP YOU.

This is remarkable.
Bar chart which shows y-axis running 0-8000, and x-axis showing years 2019 and 2024. For 2019, a light orange bar runs up to just over 6000, with a darker orange running up to 8000. For 2024, a green bar runs up to 4000, with a dark green running to about 5000. The text "40% lower" is on the lighter green bar. Text at the top of the graphic reads "Estimated air pollution deaths are down by around 40%. New analysis estimates deaths associated with air pollution in London reduced substantially between 2019 and 2024." Text at the bottom of the graphic reads "Note: darker shading shows estimated ranges. Data based on a comparison of estimated mortality burden using updated methods and a scenario-based analysis where only air pollution changes. Source: london.gov.uk/aqmortality". It was inevitable, wasn't it🙄 Of course the Telegraph would run with something like this👇 So let's remove some of the rose-tinted spectacles and also look at some of that data comparing 1976 with modern heat waves Because the 1976 nostalgia porn is wearing a bit thin at this stage 🧵1/23
Telegraph headiline:

"Heatwave hysterics wouldn't have lasted a day in 1976", overlaid with a bold “MONK DEBUNKED” stamp.

Another shot of the door at St Edward’s, Stow-on-the-wold.
The church door at St Edward’s, Stow-on-The-Wold.

Supposedly inspired Tolkien’s writing of the “Door of Durin” from the Lord of the rings (although this is not authenticated, but he was known to visit stow in particular)

The church resides on the site of a Saxon church and these two ancient yew have grown against the doors for centuries, their roots embedding themselves naturally framing the arched stone door frame. Above, Are stained glass windows with ornate tracery, in reds and blue. A wrought iron lantern hangs above the door which lights up the Cotswold stone in the evenings .

This door is highly popular in stow and heavily photographed by Tolkien fans in the summertime, so I visited on a early morning during a rain shower, and got a good few moments to appreciate the church and the churchyard on my own. Highly recommended a visit to stow if you are ever in the Cotswolds!
