Last unprecedented political donation I recall was that £10m to boost Farage's Brexit project, which helped the super-rich keep offshore wonga beyond the reach of EU regs, but left Britain dramatically worse off. Farage is good at getting spectacular money in, and wreaking havoc with it.

BBC asking Farage about "the £5m gift" concedes in the question that it was a gift and not something else - for example a political donation, a reward for services, a bribe or any of the myriad potential reasons for sending cash.
