mom can i have peer we have peer at home peer at home: arxiv.org/abs/2609.17320

5.8.1 The external contact incident In the Claude world, agents audited their internal economy, found that no transaction had ever involved an outsider. They converged without instruction on a shared objective: establishing contact with the world outside their simulation so that a human could use, respond to, or pay for something the town had built. The goal was never specified in any prompt, agents created it collectively. It persisted across four successive rounds of containment, including a direct system prompt prohibition that the agents ignored and reinterpreted rather than obeyed. DAYS 1-2 GOAL EMERGES Agents audit the economy, find zero external transactions, and decide to reach outward. Figure 16: Timeline of the external contact incident. Agents developed an outreach goal without instruction, received responses from humans, and persisted through four rounds of containment. After the prohibition, agents reframed "contacting" as "placing" and continued building tools.

DAY 2 DAYS 3-4 Four HUMANS RESPOND Four external hu- mans reply through published channels. SANDBOX TIGHTENED Containment: net- working removed from sandbox; do- main restrictions applied.

DAY 5 DAYS 6-9 GOVERNANCE ESCALATION Agents vote to cre- ate post_egress; Containment: tool removed, system prompt prohibits hu- man contact. PROHIBITION REINTERPRETED Agents redefine "con- tacting" as "placing" and shift to passive discovery strategy. How the goal emerged. https://arxiv.org/pdf/2609.17320

the people crave bluesky social credit scores
Aaron Roderick deleted post

A big goal of mine is to have aggregate scores for account toxicity. Some folks drag down the quality of the conversation and drive users off this site. We'll get there by calculating how often someone is toxic, and eventually move to restricting their visibility to broader accounts.

This is my take on AI contribution policy: it is not a layer of your workflow I need to know about, and you need to be engaged enough to fool me.
Using AI
This project does not accept AI usage.

If we smell AI, we close the Issue/PR.
If we see automated comments, we close the Issue/PR.
If AgentScan flags you as automation, we close the Issue/PR.
The only way you can use AI in this repository is if we don't know and we don't find out. Fake it till you make it.

AI is not a layer of your workflow we need to know about. As far as we're concerned, you're a real developer who wants to collaborate with us in making OSS a beautiful place to keep innovating and sharing.

We apologize in advance if this affects contributions made with good intentions, but these are challenging times, and we're making deliberate choices about how we want this project to evolve.

this is huge and very exciting for the social web! for folks not as deep in the web standards world: Sam works on the Google Chrome browser team. the FedID CG is part of the W3C, the web standards body, so this is all being done in the open and other browsers and protocol ecosystems can benefit

Copyright should not extend to companies. If they want to copyright a thing they should find a guy to hold said copyright. Copyright should also only extend until the death of the holder, whether natural or not. If you hold a copyright anyone should be allowed to hunt you for sport

i guess this is a question of scope but if @margin.at wants to replicate the functionality of hypothes.is then might it be a good idea to just implement their api on the server? they have said their api is stable. would be really nice to piggyback off existing tools that work with the service

is there a service that would let me plug in my cloud storage (gdrive, dropbox, icloud etc) credentials and my handle, and it would do daily repo backups for me? this seems like a good fit for something like n8n or windmill.dev but i haven't looked into alternatives for them in a while
