Saw too many upsetting posts about AI today. I think I need to say something with words. A little thread. I painted this piece “The Spark” back when genAI just started to become a thing - I wanted to explore the question “Why do we create?” 1/

Digital painting, inspired by the cave painting of wild pigs found in Indonesia.
A scene in a cave, two ancient people sit by the fire, one is eating something, the other is looking behind in the direction of the third person, who paints on the wall of a cave. She is painting wild pigs.

Every year for Pride, I repost Hue. I made him to send love and comfort to those who feel Pride isn’t for them because they aren’t out. You matter, you are valid, and it’s ok if you aren’t ready yet. Coming out is not a requirement for being part of this community. Happy Pride 🌈

MOON’S WINDOW (2007) Acrylic on Panel - 7” X 5” This window was suggested by shapes at the Whitby Abbey, Yorkshire England. (Nothing to do with the painting, but Whitby is where Count Dracula landed when he arrived in England...) 1/3

The warm glow of the morning sun hits the top of the rough stone facade of abbey ruins. Delicate wildflowers of pink and blue grow on the step. A view through a thin pointed arch exposes a sequence of similar arches with the final arch broken and incomplete as it frames a full moon against the pale blue morning sky. A pair of seagulls glide in opposite directions.

Annoucement time: Well, I finally drew Elric of Melniboné, in fact I started an over-ambitious series of prints (of which this one is by far the simplest💀, but the others are already advanced)... And with this, some other things are coming, please keep reading and help me share! 👇

Portrait of Elric of Melniboné, a character from Michael Moorcock

Here are 543 images (1.5GB) of items at the Philadelphia Museum of Art arms and armor exhibit You're free to use them for anything, even commercially. I tried to focus on details not usually represented in available reference material drive.google.com/file/d/1NRzg... Here's a small sampling:

A closeup view of an ornate cuirass and tasset, showing heart-shaped designs along the edges of the metal panels.

An extremely ornate ceremonial halberd head showing etched and blackened designs with various plants, mythical creatures, and heraldic designs.

A closeup of the shoulder intersection of the cuirass, pauldron, and bevor of a piece of 1500s field armor. Some ornate etching of the crucifixion is visible in the lower right corner on the cuirass.

see? here's the thing. A lot of people are like, the earth is fucked, it's beyond salvation, it's hit the tipping point, but time and time again we see that if we just fucking fixed the problem, it rebounds so incredibly fast. Imagine what could be done if people actually cared

If you’ve ever complained about shipping prices, please take that energy and direct it to your elected representatives. Tell them to fight for more funding of the postal service! If we lose the USPS it’s absolutely inevitable that shipping rates will increase with all carriers. 😤

People not in Minnesota: please read this excellent summary of what life is like in Minneapolis since the murderous scum ICE swarmed here. And more are on their way. By local reporter / writer / bike dude / legend @dbrauer.net .

Text: “A friend said those of us who live in Minneapolis should write about what's going on here for folks who live elsewhere. You need to know that whether you're a Republican, Independent or Democrat, the Constitution is being violated by our federal government. This is not about catching criminals, or even deporting people. It is about punishing an entire state, including
citizens, for not supporting the president. Everyone in my part of Minneapolis is affected. On our streets, ICE is stopping people of color and demanding their papers. In America. US citizens do not have to prove citizenship to ICE. Yet people are being intimidated, some cases beaten up and detained, for requiring ICE to follow the law. ICE needs a judicial warrant to enter homes. Yet there are documented cases of them
ignoring the law - violating a bedrock constitutional principle. Americans of color are staying home, afraid to go to work, school, to grocery shop, or fill their cars with gas. This isn't just "illegals" or immigrants with valid work permits, it is citizens who have had their cars rammed by ICE for merely looking Hispanic. Businesses are closing. Schools are 50 percent full. When they are open, fascists are calling in bomb threats because the
president decided to make us a meme. After a daycare teacher with a valid work permit (through 2030) was snatched from her workplace, parents (and grandparents) have had to organize to watch their SCHOOLS, to make sure conditional rights are observed. This is being repeated throughout Minnesota. Imagine trying to do your job or live you life while also taking volunteer shifts to make sure the federal
government doesn't act extrajudicially.
Because of ICE's documented abuses, neighbors have organized to monitor federal actions. This observation is legal, as long as it doesn't interfere with a valid action. Yet since ICE killed Renee Good, they are increasingly stopping this observation, breaking car windows and …”

I don't get how people don't realize that a technology that replaces junior and entry level positions in a field destroys that field. There's no skipping steps. You have to be a junior before you can be a senior, and if you don't have senior people, you don't have a field.

some illustrations for one of the new SCURRY! adventures from @stoutstoat.co.uk! if you ever wanted to play as a little, little animal getting into big, big trouble, I highly reccommend this system and these stories!

A scene of confrontation between an armored bear and a sword-wielding wolf, as shown from the perspective of little woodland animals. The charge of the two behemoths is causing kaiju-esque destruction among the small houses of the beasts. In the foreground, three small animals are carrying a pendant and trying to call out to the wolf.

A fisherman toad looks down at a mole giving her a knowing wink. The mole grins mischeviously up at the toad.

Several scenes of over- and under-water lodgings and ongoings of a beaver dam.
