The consequences of this ruling go way past common ableism (bad enough, you'd think) into explicit fascist cruelty and dehumanisation. It's horrifying and I can't think of a single reason why that framework needed to change other than 'protecting & dignifying disabled people is too much trouble.'

Some interesting points in this. How Ai 'art' is for the poor, while human created art becomes the purview of the wealthy. There is only one war and its class war. youtu.be/EfeGc02nzC4

Bollocks. One, hardcovers are selling great, especially the ones that these days come with sprayed edges and illustrated end pages. Two, ditching hardcovers would absolutely gut author and bookseller incomes. You want to fuck up publishing? Kill the hardcover. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

This is the problem. A pitch to voters "turning to Greens and Reform". You have to actually choose between the voters who want what they perceive as a socially liberal socialist environmentalist party and the ones who want fascism. You can't appeal to both, and now they all hate you.

As people get ready to vote in the Scottish Parliament election please be careful of the spoiler operation which is 'Independent Green Voice'. They are listed second on the regional ballot paper in South of Scotland with the Green Party further down. IGV is a right-wing spoiler operation.

Northmoor collects wreckage. Well that bit of the National Park owned by the MoD does. They test all sorts over that way. Tanks, missiles, planes. There are hills metal-crowned by crashed Lightnings, escarpments where you see tanks unfurled like steel flowers. It has ghosts too. – Tom Tripp #VOH

People keep asking Alan Moore questions about comics he's disowned when they could spend more time asking him questions about things he actually gives a shit about—and get answers as glorious as this.
A quote from Alan Moore that reads:

"When I became a magician at the age of 40, I took it very seriously, and it has transformed my life. There’s no difference between magic and creativity. One part of magic is changing the consciousness of other people. Writing has always been the best way of doing that. If a wizard puts a curse on you, maybe your hands weigh too much, big deal. If you offended a bard they might put a satire on you, destroy you in the eyes of everybody who knows you, your own eyes, and if it’s good enough people might still be laughing at you in 200 years’ time. I think a lot of us have forgotten what art is for. It’s an engine of human progress. Art and culture stay with us. It’s the wars we’re ashamed of."

This. It's baseless shaming and ableism. Baseless but not purposeless, because the purpose is to marginalise & stigmatise more and more people. (The privileged will of course always find ways to get their meds.)

My biggest conspiracy theory is that telling working class people that engagement in the arts is a middle / upper class thing and to do so makes you a class traitor is a psyop to make them disengaged with themselves and the world and the beauty of being human, so that they accept worse treatment.

If a magazine asks several months to respond, or worse promises no response at all, they have no business asking for no simsubs. If they still do, a writer is perfectly justified in not submitting there. The real problem comes when both parties aren't on the same page about the submissions policy.

Also: the stereotype about Black people and fried chicken came about because, post-slavery, so many Black women successfully supported themselves and their families by selling homemade fried chicken to white people at train stations. It was one of the few lucrative jobs open to the newly free.
