This thread is especially salient in conjunction with 404's new piece today. One of the few actually popular uses of modern AI tools is pornographic imagery. And while that obviously implies other cultural concerns as well, I think it's in part because it's *what people can think of using it for*.

Also: If you want crispy edges and gooey middles, form the dough for each cookie into a cylinder instead of a sphere, and keep the dough super cold until it goes in the oven. That way, the dough doesn't spread as much, and the middle stays super soft.

One reason why the National Book Awards didn’t have a lot of nonwhite nominees in the mid century was because immigration law kept out most nonwhite people until 1965, and Black people were under segregation. What we see now is at least partly the result of greater competition.

I’m tired of reading about autofiction written by white writers. Carlos Bulosan’s AMERICA IS IN THE HEART from 1946 was autofiction before it was trendy. Except that it was about Filipino men, blurring the novel and collective autobiography.

2/2 The close-ups of my wildfire embroidery. I tried to get a glowing effect with the fire and embers with colours I chose. I cut up my favourite cardigan for the rough charred ground as it was the only fabric I had with the right colour and texture but its not needed in this heat anyway...
