Hm. Conversations I’ve had with insiders at Netflix are all about how any menu system can’t remotely compete with linear TV - so many disadvantages - and that plenty of programmes and whole genres can only survive on a platform that doesn’t rely on an algorithmic / front page priority system.

Our culture sector is a huge success story. It's bananas that it's not championed, or that arts and humanities degrees are portrayed as a waste when they directly feed these sector. It's also shocking when Ai could devastate this key sector for our major political parties to be ignoring the threat

You missed out on a good one. Danny Dyer parachuted in with his goons Ant and Dec, then fought hand to hand with Claudia Winkleman. Everyone made a knife shaped cake with the Bake-Off team, but the traitors had to hide a real knife in their cakes. Richard E Grant then actually murdered someone

Earlier this week, I agreed to interviews with two USA Today journalists. They wrote fantastic articles about the Cornell case that I'm proud to have been a part of. What I did not know is that their employer considers interviews to proprietary and opens up recordings to be used by any journalist.

The AI industry continues to be trapped in an endless panicky improv game, where they have to think up new uses for the humorously pointless object they’ve been given.
Whose line is it anyway. Stiles and mocherie play an improv game with a big white foam object

There wasn't a social care crisis when local authorities provided the service free of charge. Then Thatcher privatised it and private equity bosses started charging £8000 a month.

I'm kinda fully over that "the British conquered the world for spices and don't use any of them" joke because for one, you cannot recycle material for 5 straight generations and get a laugh worth a damn but also because in order to make it you have to agree with Tommy Robinson about who is British

The US would love to drag the whole of Europe as fully as possible into their war with Iran. Framing a bunch of petrol thieves as a clandestine international terror cell would be a politically expedient narrative for them

Liar. Small boat crossings peaked under Johnson in 2022 reaching 46,000 in 2022. In current year they are 18,565 and falling. Also prior to Boris Johnson's Brexit there were none.
It's a disaster, and it can all be traced to
Labour ideology. Burnham has no mandate
from the people. He has no real ideas, and
no plan,

I really hate the framing of these stories as "an AI agent broke out and hacked something." No, an inadequate sandbox meant that a powerful and unpredictable computer program was set loose on the open internet by the company that designed it. The agency isn't with the "AI agent", it's with the firm

The RNLI has said the abuse of volunteers in Portsmouth has forced it to close the lifeboat station there and stop operating since September 10. Nearby stations have been providing cover to the area instead. One of the UK's largest coastal cities without a lifeboat because of the far-right.

If the government wants to make sure pensioners don’t pay income tax on their state pension, then they should increase the tax threshold for all in line with it. Instead they want working age people to be paying more income tax as well as being the only ones who pay national insurance

If you're in government watching criminal-led blackshirt thugs in balaclavas wage war on the RNLI and you're hedging your bets because you're not sure who the majority of the country will side with, why do you even want to be in government? Why would you WANT to lead people you think so little of?
