Hey, I’m just asking questions. Ignorant questions, bigoted questions, questions that have been repeatedly answered for many years. Sorry, but I’m not listening to answers right now; I’m far too busy asking questions. It’s called being intellectually curious.

Willem Dafoe as one of the lighthouse keepers in the movie, The Lighthouse. He's dressed in a heavy oat with a nautical-type of hat. There's an out of focus lighthouse over his left shoulder. Caption: This month I'm doing a challenge called "October." It's where I try to make it through every day of October.

Confirmation takes 50 votes. If they get a 51 majority (not counting Fetterman) they can vote down all nominees. McConnell found the means.

If Dems win the Senate, they should refuse to confirm any SCOTUS appointment until after the next president is in office. It would just be playing by the R's rules but I doubt they have the guts to do it.

Every now and then I see myself referred to as an "AI Denier" and I want to be clear I acknowledge "AI" exists, it's just I think it's a massive energy drain, created from theft, implemented poorly for inappropriate tasks by loathsome tech executives who get hard at the idea of the rest of us dying

Economist John Kenneth Galbraith didn't live to see the "effective altruism" movement, but he knew the type and read them for filth.
John Kenneth Galbraith:
The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy: that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

Astrophotographer Adam (AJ) Smadi caught this image a few hours ago from Washington state. A thin crescent Moon, sunlight illuminating the rugged lunar surface. And 2,400 times farther away—and on the other side of the Sun—mighty Jupiter, and its moons Io (left) and Ganymede (right).
A crescent Moon seen during the day, arcing from upper left to lower right of the frame. At lower centre is the full disk of Jupiter; the small dots to its upper left and lower right and Io and Ganymede, respectively.

You fuckers made me do it. The Racist Academicals Patter Song.
[RACIST ACADEMICAL]
I am the very model of a racist academical,
With footnotes and citations to make bigotry seem credible,

I traffic in ideas that have long since been discredited,
Like human races being real and IQ is inherited!

I’ll sign an open letter that legitimates my bigotry,
My gender ideology is thuggery and piggery,

If criticized it’s academic freedom I will hide behind,
My high and mighty principles shan’t be questioned by your tiny mind!

The image is of a Twitter(?) post with the poster paraphrasing John Adams, "I must study war so my sons can study business so their sons can study art so their sons can write gay vampire fiction."

Below this quote is another post with an image of Ulysses Grant Dietz, great grandson of Civil War general and president Ulysses S. Grant. Yes, Dietz is an author of gay vampire fiction.

For your convenience, the Pride and Prejudice live-posting super-thread 📚
A drawing of Elizabeth Bennet, a lovely young woman with her long hair tied up nearly under a ribbon and wearing what is most likely a neo-classically inspired dress, looking pensive, two letters in her hand. Meanwhile Darcy, a handsome but stern-looking fellow, looks longingly at her. Also there is me, a little gremlin in big round glasses, skulking about in the background and hoping that they kiss.

The accompanying text reads “Trung reads Pride and Prejudice for the first time, somehow.”
