It might seem like a minor issue but it’s pervasive, pernicious, and cloaked in righteousness
A tweet from me on Twitter dated November 26th, 2019 that says, “Saying that ‘people should pay for what they use in the public sphere and not have to pay for what they don’t’ is either ignorant or cynical dumbassery and I won’t stand for it”

Cloud-native isn’t (or shouldn’t be) a belief system but it feels like it is sometimes. It says that there’s a canonical modern application stack we're all supposed to build toward, and everything else is legacy or wrong

When it comes to AI regulations, I think the EU has the right idea with the AI Act. The focus should be on harmful uses of AI (job descrimination, healthcare decisions, etc) versus hypotheticals about how AI shouldn’t get so powerful it can hack the internet or isn’t aligned with certain politics.

@daveweigel.bsky.social is right. The big pitch of the establishment, NYT, Yglesias, etc is that they need the keys to the car because they know how to win (and in the Trump era, winning is existential). But nobody really believes that anymore after 10 years of Trumpism

I think Abughazaleh is being characteristically respectful here, but Harrison’s post is dishonest. The folks he’s talking to don’t hate the Democratic Party. They don’t say those words publicly and if they do privately, it’s rhetorical. Criticism, however sharp, is not hatred. It’s caring
