Disappointing outcome for the Zenith ISQ transfer deal but we have one more opportunity today to address safety & fuels at the CEI Hub. Tell Council we need clear, actionable language, a directive to redefine the use of “fuels” in the text & a data-driven approach to draw down the fuel at the Hub.

Looking back through my records, in 2021 I could send a 27" long tube with a print in it to Denver by guaranteed Priority Mail for $8.85. It now costs $17.57 for the same tube (including a $4.50 surcharge because tubes are inherently long) and it takes forever to get there. JFC.

As a small business owner, I'm starting to wonder why I even bother with Priority Mail. It used to be a guaranteed delivery within two days, now it just gets there... whenever. I've currently got "priority" prints going to Denver from Portland that have been in the postal network for 10 days.

As someone who has covered data brokers & data use for decades, I recognize these nuances seem trivial or as though they miss the forest for the trees. Data buying & selling hinges on minor legal distinctions to comply w & circumvent data regs, however weak they are.

I also believe in protecting children from abusive and dangerous homes. While Katy Cornell advocates for safer homes by protecting kids from parents who abuse drugs, she's also part of a faith healing community that doesn't believe in taking your kids to the hospital and instead praying for healing.
Image of white woman in a kitchen. Katy Cornell for State Representative post: As a mom, there are some issues that cut right to the heart. This is one of them.
No child should be left in a dangerous home where fentanyl, meth or other deadly drugs put their life at risk. We can have compassion for parents struggling with addiction. We can help them get clean, get back on their feet and work toward bringing their family back together.
But the safety of the child has to come first.
When the warning signs are there, our laws and our state agencies need to protect children before tragedy strikes. We should never have to look back after a child dies and ask why more wasn't done.
I believe we can support parents, work to keep families together when it is safe, and still draw a firm line when a child's life is in danger.
As your representative, I will always put the safety of our children first and work to give every child the opportunity to grow up safe, healthy and surrounded by people who love them.
Together, let's fix what's broken and protect what matters most.

If PPB is providing data (including "flock type" alpr) to LexisNexis then they are providing it to ICE and the Feds. A restrictive data policy is clear and consise, that's why everything we ever see is not. We need this for PPB, but also for Portland broadly, to include commercial surveillance.
