Together, they discussed warning signs that may indicate someone is experiencing or is at risk of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking and shared information to help students recognize concerns and understand when and where to seek help.
“This is essential education that helps students recognize signs of domestic violence, understand the complexities and challenges involved,” explains Det. Johnson.

I love studying the convergence of right-wing patriarchal fundamentalist Christianity with MLM and pyramid schemes. The messaging is nearly identical, which is probably why so many Christian Nationalists naturally get caught-up in these schemes and their churches become hubs for scams.

I can sympathize with a dog dying and officers getting injured. I can't sympathize with PPB Sgt Schmautz, who heads the police collective bargaining unit, omitting that the police shot and killed a human yesterday, a tragic loss of life. Anytime they kill a person, it's a failure.

Earlier today, two Central Precinct officers were attacked and assaulted while assisting on a low-level abatement call. Both were taken to the hospital and are thankfully now home recovering.
Hours later, officers from multiple agencies, including Portland, attempted to take a suspect into custody. Tragically, K-9 Kylo died while protecting the lives of police officers.
Kylo was working the final shift of his career before retirement.
There will be much to say in the days ahead about Kylo, his sacrifice, and the officers he protected. Tonight, our hearts are with his handler, his family, and all those who worked alongside him. He will never be forgotten.
These two calls began very differently, but both are reminders of how quickly an ordinary call can become extraordinarily dangerous for those who respond.
We are deeply grateful for the men and women who continue to show up, answer the call, and protect our community every day.

On NE Broadway, there's a newer bike lane that has parking on one side and driving lanes on the other side with buffers. I'd be great except for all the trucks that park there to unload and the cars that don't look and think it's a turn lane. I wouldn't say it's safer than riding in a traffic lane.

I had missed this in July. Kallen Booth, a security guard for Executive Security Services, swerved and hit a man twice with his security vehicle as the man was leaving after the man had hit the car with a hammer. Then Booth left the injured man and drove away. Security guards can be scary.

Local and state ordinances are really specific about where you can and cannot place your campaign signs. I think some of these are breaking some rules. I don't care that much but the candidates who hand-out signs should do some basic trainings on how to lawfully place their campaign signs.
