Treating the triple lock issue as one of pensioners vs non-pensioners is silly identity politics. The qn is: how do we best prepare for our retirements, & should we sacrifice some of this preparation to pay for social care insurance? I need convincing.

See, making young people’s lives better, improving their life chances and giving them more opportunities, *that* could be a ‘moral crusade’. Changing U.K. benefits for young people is just about saving rich people’s money.

Here are some notes from reading Georg Lukacs' History and Class Consciousness.
marxadventure.wordpress.com
Rough Notes: History and Class Consciousness
As always these are notes taken while reading, and therefore not a set of fully formed thoughts. What is orthodox Marxism? A concise outline of Hegelian marxism. The process though which the proletariat develops as a class drives their understanding of history and their role in it. This allows them to become both the subject and the object of history. This has implications for our understanding of history and science.

Your regular reminder that the claim we have 'ballooning' welfare spending, or that it needs to be 'brought under control', is flatly false. It's a barefaced lie, told in order to justify hatred of the disabled, vulnerable and economically excluded. Not a fact which 'everyone agrees'. A lie.

Figure accepts dominant power structure, eschews even limited change and embarks on authoritarian neoliberal project. 5. See 1.

I really hate the framing of these stories as "an AI agent broke out and hacked something." No, an inadequate sandbox meant that a powerful and unpredictable computer program was set loose on the open internet by the company that designed it. The agency isn't with the "AI agent", it's with the firm
