#StopKillingGames is proud to announce that we are working with Senator John Kane of the Pennsylvania State Senate, on the Protect Our Games (POG) Act in Pennsylvania

Protect Our Games Act memo announcement by John Kane of the Pennsylvania State Senate, describing: video game manufacturers would be required to give customers at least 60 days' notice before ending access to the game or changing its features.

Additionally, the companies would also be required to provide customers with at least one of the following options:

The ability to use the video game offline
A patch to continue using the game online independent of the company's online gaming services
A refund in an amount equal to the highest price of the digital game offered by the digital game operator within the 12 months before the digital game operator ceases providing services for the ordinary use of the digital game. The refund amount cannot fall below 25% of the initial sale price of the game
Additionally, the bill would include exemptions for subscription-based services where access to games lasts only for the duration of the subscription.

If enacted, the bill would be enforced by the Pennsylvania Attorney General and the district attorneys.

I'm not a fan of this argument, @tobyfox.undertale.com. You are not the one who will play your game in other languages, neither the one who will enjoy the way jokes work in languages you don't understand. Just provide guidelines and let the translators do their magic. It's a matter of confidence.

Soy el primero que no le importa jugar a los juegos en inglés, y normalmente si está hecho por una empresa de habla inglesa suelo jugarlo en ese idioma antes que el español. Pero no hay que ser pelotudo. Con el dinero recaudado por Undertale y Deltarune, tienes dinero de sobra para la localización.

I think what Toby doesn't address here is translation is an accessibility issue. Offloading the responsibility to fan translations fails to see the majority of non English speakers refuse to install fan patches Plus people should expected to be paid for translating. Their work deserves compensation

Aprovecho para hatear a Toby Fox que esconde en este tocho lo de "if I release anything official I want it to match my vision" como si en el año 2026 no pudiese, no sé, tener linea directa con un traductor de español con el que se habla y le pide clarificaciones y decisiones de traducción. Que si puede hacerlo para el japonés no veo porqué no podría hacerlo para el español "ninini es que tengo que saber el idioma" es de tener la cabeza metida en el culo como si no hubiera miles de libros traducidos del inglés al español cuyos autores no saben español.

Si tan importante fuera la visión artística haría una traducción. Porque sin una traducción una persona que no tenga un nivel nativo o muy alto no puede entender todos los matices que tiene un texto. Traducir implica que más gente acceda a esa visión, a esos matices que quieres dar.
