the IOC is like the Giannis of corruption (perennial top-tier player, has been the best player in the world at times, high on any all-time player ranking) but FIFA is the LeBron of corruption, the GOAT and somehow continuing to produce legendary levels of corruption after all these years

FIFA is one of THE most corrupt organizations on this earth. Period.

The NFL keeps its corruption out in the open. Billionaire team owners extorting middle-class taxpayers to build them stadiums, then charge fans for seat licenses and stuff with suites for their CEO buds.

They'll only be worse after this edition with likely record ratings, attendance and profit. As we've seen with sports and politics, you won't affect change by doing nothing. IOC will get their chance with this corrupt administration in '28 and will be pulling out all the stops.

Is the IOC as corrupt as it was before the SLC scandal? My guess is that the Olympics has more audience risk, especially in the US (it's biggest market) so it has cleaned up a lot. FIFA gets away with more because the World Cup has no substitute—it can continue to push the envelope.
