I love it when a museum has an exhibit that's just a lil guy

An ancient Aztec pot shaped like a crab with extremely goofy eyes and mouth.

From a previous thread of lil museum guys

Nazca pot, not Aztec. Nazca pottery is the BEST.

I liked this little guy so much, I kept him as an avatar for years; he is Ayapec the All-Knowing, from a Chicago Museum (more than a passing resemblance, I'm told... although my hair is quite a bit tidier, w/ hardly any serpents in it these days)

Yes!! A lil guy from a Sami exhibit I saw last week

A gray wood or stone carving with inset eyes of a different material. The carving could be a face, with ears, nose, and a gap for a mouth, or it could be plaintive animal figure resting a head (and snout) on its arm.

It would be really funny if a kid thousands of years ago was playing with clay, got scolded by his mom because he should be helping with the hunt or something, throws away whatever he/she created, and it’s what is featured in museums today.

This l’il fella is a gold amulet from Roman Egypt, possibly representing the Egyptian god Anubis as a defender of Osiris-Dionysus. He wears a military tunic and breastplate, signifying him as a defender of Osiris; he also holds a thyrsus of Dionysus, equated with Osiris. 🏺 1/ 📸 me #MetMuseum
