Chanda Prescod-Weinstein 🌌 @chanda.blacksky.app · 27/07/2025Zotero has changed my life for the better. What a marvelous piece of software. 4570758
Tom Kimmerer, PhD @tomkimmerer.bsky.social · 27/07/2025Zotero is a treasure. Over the years, I used most of the bibliographic programs (starting with index cards), but none has been as useful and Zotero. Zotero and Scrivener are how I am getting my current book done. 1361
That JSTweedie | Gatineau 🇨🇦 @jstweedie.bsky.social · 27/07/2025Yep. It wildly reduced the level of chaos managing papers and publications. I remember doing my last degree without it. What. A. Headache keeping track of large reference sets. One of the few actual honest to gosh instances of digital automation that works. 020
Mark O’Neill 🐻 @radiobeartime.com · 27/07/2025I’ve started using it for reviewing grant applications :) 030
Laura Jones-Pettit @jonespettit.bsky.social · 31/07/2025Just chiming in to say thanks for this. I'd downloaded Zotero last week to check it out but hadn't dug in yet, and you (and the comments section) motivated me to spend some time learning it. Already making my research writing life easier! 120
Andy Knight @andyfknight.bsky.social · 27/07/2025Oh my god! How did I not know about this? Thank you, this will help immensely! 040
Lisa E. Davis @led0260.bsky.social · 27/07/2025I haven’t been able to figure out how to use it 😢, but I’m sure it’s me. 230
Maurice van Steensel 🇺🇦 🇳🇱 🇸🇬🏳️🌈 @4dmanifold.bsky.social · 28/07/2025JabRef or KBibTeX. Zotero is great but IMO handicapped by the reliance on an external browser. Plus it doesn’t really work very well with proper typesetting software. 000
Sandra @lilysch.bsky.social · 27/07/2025Same here. I wouldn’t know what to do without it. It is such a good program! 000
Bob Kopp @bobkopp.net · 27/07/2025I’ve been using it for at least 15 years for my scholarship, but it only just occurred to me that it also provided all the functionality I used Goodreads for, without being in hoc to a big tech firm.Bob Kopp@bobkopp.netSuccessfully extracted 15 years of Goodreads data into @zotero.org, so I can now reclaim ownership of they from Amazon… 1242
Dr. Rebecca Barnes (she/her) @waterbarnes.bsky.social · 28/07/2025agreed!! it is especially amazing when writing collaboratively - aka all the time since and i haven't written something by myself since my dissertation 041
Dr Sea Rotmann @drsearotmann.bsky.social · 28/07/2025I liked it too. Until we used it in a collaborative Google doc 255p book manuscript, and didn’t realise that, when someone else made edits, the entire referencing broke. Had to redo / fix almost 1000 references by hand 😩 000
Chris Brockett @chrisbrockett.bsky.social · 28/07/2025Has anyone had any success with Zotero for multi-lingual bibliographies where one or more of the languages uses a non-Latin script such as Japanese? In particular, cases where entries must contain, e.g., titles in translation, Latin text transcription, and the source language? 196
Dr. Jillie Pintuck 🐸 @bubblegumdrop.bsky.social · 28/07/2025I used Zotero to write my dissertation! 💥 010
Adi Palguna @adipalguna.bsky.social · 28/07/2025Agree! I've been using it since my undergraduate study. I used Mendely in the beginning, but then I changed to Zotero because it's better in terms of performance, features, and integration to Word and Docs. 010
Nicola @nijaha.bsky.social · 27/07/2025I love Zotero. Somewhere to put all the interesting papers and actually find them again afterwards to reference them!! 020
Robin Marwick @electricland.bsky.social · 28/07/2025It is so great. EndNote is a punishment by comparison. 030
iainjgallagher.eurosky.social @iainjgallagher.eurosky.social · 28/07/2025Absolutely love it. Been using it since about 2008 (the old FF extension). When my daughter finished Uni she said the most useful thing I had shown her was how to use Zotero! 000
Kathryn Cramer 📚🎨 @kathryncramer.bsky.social · 28/07/2025Except for the exporting to other data formats. 000
AJC @xyzzy.cryptoanarchy.network · 27/07/2025I feel like there's so much more software could be offering us regarding knowledge management. Like, I browsed this site while working on that code, what connection is there? How can that link be saved and presented later at a valuable time? 050
Lexabrö @lexabro.bsky.social · 28/07/2025Just glancing at its webpage and wishing i would have known about that in college 000
Manon Garcia @manongarcia.bsky.social · 28/07/2025After decade(s) of resistance, your post made me install it today. Let's see if I end up sharing your enthusiasm! 021
Mari - Art is Craft is Design @artcraftdesign.bsky.social · 28/07/2025Have they created a decent iPhone app for it yet? That’s the main reason I don’t use it more 100
⚡ Kate 🌧️ @vohak.bsky.social · 27/07/2025My masters program recommended it during student orientation and I used it on every project and paper without fail 030
André "Normal" Alessi @andrealessi.bsky.social · 27/07/2025I think a decent reference manager can absolutely save your life as an academic. I use Paperpile because back in the day it was slightly better with Google Docs than Zotero or Mendeley, but I always recommend my students try them all out to see what they can do. 080
lonestarred.bsky.social @lonestarred.bsky.social · 27/07/2025I've tried using Zotero a few times and I've always found it very frustrating, and I really prefer Scrivener. No doubt that reflects the type of scholarship I do as well as personal habits and inclinations. But to each their own. Glad you find Zotero useful. 110
Sasha Costanza-Chock @schock.cc · 28/07/2025I'm a huge Zotero fan, used it to write both of my books, and taught many a graduate student to use it 170
Robin Bird @robinxbird.bsky.social · 27/07/2025I too am a fan of Zotero! I only started using it in January and it was a game changer. This is good academic tech. More like this! 030
Jud @judmarc.com · 28/07/2025Retired but still like to accumulate references on subjects of interest, so thanks for letting me know about this. 👍 000
Arrianna Marie Planey, PhD MA @arrianna-planey.bsky.social · 27/07/2025Agreed!! It brought me fully on-board to using ref managers. I can't believe I manually did references until... 2021 1190
singular locus sarah @scgriffith.bsky.social · 27/07/2025hands down the best academic software I have ever used 010
PallasLab @pallaslab.bsky.social · 29/07/2025I learned and used Zotero as part of a collaborative study, but I still prefer EndNote due to its ease of use and its compatibility with Word. 000
Robert Campbell @robert-g-campbell.bsky.social · 28/07/2025It's great, and they have an API too. I made this a while back to import Bluesky likes to a Zotero collection, it's useful if you're like me and you forget to save interesting papers on here: github.com/rcampbell95/...github.comGitHub - rcampbell95/zoterosky: Import arXiv preprints from liked posts on Bluesky to ZoteroImport arXiv preprints from liked posts on Bluesky to Zotero - rcampbell95/zoterosky 040
