We live in a world where...
I saw this on Mastodon today (saved the image, lost the source), and it just brought me so much joy! Did you know that we live in a world where octopuses dream, otters have a favorite shell that they carry with them all their lives, cows have best friends, and bees have different “dialects” of dance depending on the region? Or that cats purr at a frequency that accelerates bone healing, the forest grows flowers first after a fire, and dolphins give each other names and respond to them, and Penguins make proposals by giving each other the most beautiful pebble?

Infographic titled 'ailments: possible new mental effects & behaviours from using AI', four terms: NarcAIssism – ego-inflation from agreeable AI chatbots; Cognitive Laxity – atrophy of memory and reasoning from outsourcing mental effort to AI; Glitterball Mind – euphoria from endless AI-generated ideas all praised as 'great'; AI Psychosis – uncritical belief AI must replace human creativity, companionship and common sense.Infographic titled 'ailments: possible new mental effects & behaviours from using AI', four terms: FOFAB – Fear Of Falling Behind, anxiety over others using AI more effectively; PolyLLMory – inability to commit to one AI, prompting Claude, ChatGPT and Gemini simultaneously; HipAIcrit – secretly using AI as a creator while publicly denigrating it; Agentic Burgerflipping – spending workdays supervising AI agents instead of doing skilled work.

got in the habit of saying this prayer with my kids every night just to be safe. Remember to say “ok google” before you start to make sure they hear you 👍🏼
The tech overlord’s prayer

Our great leaders who aren’t in heaven
Hallowed be thy reign
Thy intelligence come
Thy will be done
Online as it is in reality
Give us this day our daily impressions
And forgive us our opinions,
as we forgive those who voice their opinions to us.
Lead us not into critical thinking
But deliver us from inconvenience
For yours is the power, and the glory forever and ever

In the name of almighty Intelligence we pray
Amen

@brucel.bsky.social entered the stage today at @kode24.no. The crowd sat in awe. A whisper heard in the crowd: “Bruce was just on stage and restored my hopes that we might be able to win back the internet from the clutches of the Big Tech perps - download Vivaldi, y’all!”
Black and white picture, with Bruce Lawson, Vivaldi's Technical Communication's Officer on Stage, next to another speaker, and to the left, a large screen showing the title of the keynote: "How do we unfuck the web?"A picture taken from the right side of the stage, showing Bruce Lawson's back. He's wearing a white T-shirt with black letters that read "Big Tech? Big No!". Behind him there is a transparent display with different objects, such as an old computer, a Gremlin and a plushie of Baby Yoda.

People need people
A few weeks ago, I was on a trip in my camper and had stopped at a gas station in Georgia to refuel. I saw someone sitting on the curb making a sign asking for money, so I walked over and gave him $40, figuring I would be gone by the time he was finished with his sign. He looked me in the eyes and started sobbing. I don’t know if I’ll ever forget that mixture of pain and relief on his face.

Be an active explorer, not a passive spectator!
Vivaldi statement with heading 'We refuse to reduce you to a passive spectator.' Full text: 'Browsing should push you to explore, chase ideas, and make your own decisions. It should light up your brain. When an artificial assistant sits between you and the web, Big Tech filters what you see and decides what you don't see. Your judgment is outsourced. A browser that browses for you is like paying a robot to go out for dinner with your friends and give you a summary of the evening when it gets home. Vivaldi is taking a stand. We choose humans over hype, and we will not turn the joy of exploring into inactive spectatorship. Without exploration, the web becomes far less interesting. Our curiosity loses oxygen and the diversity of the web dies. We exist for you to explore the web on your own terms. We refuse to reduce you to a passive spectator. We're fighting for a better web where you're in control.' Signed by Jon von Tetzchner, CEO and Co-founder, with Vivaldi logo.
