Possibly just a stoner thought, but has anyone else thought of the story in Queneau’s Exercises de Style as a kind of prosaic, deflationary rewriting of “À Une Passante”? -In the street vs on a bus -Majestic femme vs ridiculous homme -Feston/ourlet vs hat with cord -no 2nd meeting vs 2nd encounter

In class on Tues we'll talk a bit abt the history of Tolstoy College, the anarchist college @ Buffalo. I planned to offer some context re: UB's progressivism in media studies, xprmental 🎞️ + poetics in the 60s + 70s. Learned (belatedly) that Buffalo just eliminated its whole legendary poetics pgm 😭

This framing of higher ed “reform” is sooooo good. Who decides how 3600 hours of someone’s adult educational life is allocated?
Whose degree is it anyway?
Underneath all of that sits the debate’s missing organising principle – a curriculum is, above all, an allocation of control over 360 credits and roughly 3,600 notional hours of someone’s life, and curriculum reform is partly a struggle over who decides what they’re for.

Control of credit determines which departments receive workload, which modules and posts remain viable, what students must do rather than may do, and whose conception of a graduate prevails.

There are five claimants.
