As a military brat, I had to move around a bunch and so it was tough to make close, lasting friendships. As a result, I never had the experience of having a friend call me by an affectionate nickname inspired by an inside joke, and it was always something I kinda aspired after.

So for a lot of software, "deterministic output" is foundational to good design and code. Deterministic output means that, for a given input, you can expect the same output. So like: "add 2+2" you should always get the answer "4". This means that the code is predictable.

There is a part of AI usage that most people don't actively talk about. Its something I think people intuitively understand but I'd like to talk about why AI is not always the right tool for a given problem. AI generates "non-deterministic output." That is one of its primary problems as a tool.

A few years ago I went to a pig sanctuary and most of the pigs were stoned from eating green acorns. This one, Wilbur, couldn’t stand up and was too big to lift, so the staff had to leave him in this bush and wait for him to sober up.
