As we write in the book, we need less focus on adults who scream "I've lived in the city for the last 50 years and don't need bike lanes" and more focus on kids who say "I am going to live in the city for the *next* 50 years and want to be able to get around safely."

HB 1429 would do a lot to restore the rights that the homeless had pre-Grants Pasa, notably in preventing local governments from criminalizing people for being unsheltered. The ABA has a good summary on what Grants Pass did, and here's a synopsis of the bill. www.americanbar.org/groups/crsj/...

Illinois is poised to restore rights that SCOTUS took away in the Grants Pass decision at the state level, and the right is upset. Contact your representative today so that Jeanne Ives, Paul Vallas, and RayLo don't hold us back: act.chicagohomeless.org/a/hb1429-2026

a bright, simple illustration of a winter snow-covered field in the prairies. The sky is a bright blue with big fluffy clouds on the horizon. Tufts of dead brown grass poke through the snow, and a crescent moon sit up high in the sky. A long freight train with brightly coloured cars snakes its way about two thirds of the way across the horizon, far in the distance

chicago.suntimes.com/environment/... I love this article about replacing your lawn with native plants, but I do take issue with one thing: that it could cost thousands of dollars to replace your lawn. You can do it yourself for way, way less. Cheap as free, even.
chicago.suntimes.com
Hate mowing and endless watering? Rip out your lawn and replace it with something more wild
Native landscaping requires minimal maintenance, benefits the environment and, with a bit of acceptance, can be a thing of beauty.
