Following the events at RAF Fairford the group chat posited the existence of the "IRGC dogging promotion unit" the other day and now I can only read this sentence in the Guardian with one interpretation: www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2026...

Every death in our Channel could be prevented. The three people who died trying to reach safety yesterday were betrayed by politicians, who've chosen to ignore the evidence and prioritise deadly hostility over saving lives. But this tragedy doesn't have to be repeated. Safe routes save lives.
Headline reads "Three more people killed by our borders. One of them was a child." over a choppy sea background, with a "Fight for Asylum Rights" badge and a Sky News caption reporting two women and a child died crossing the English Channel.

I'm wearily habituated to the creepy habit of almost all online plant suppliers to send you creepy emails when you visit their site asking 'Something catch your eye?' 'Did you forget something?' but sending me a TEXT MESSAGE to ask the same thing when I visited your site on a browser is even worse.

Dolly Parton knew what it was like to struggle as she fought for working families her whole career. From providing free books to kids to giving working women our "9 to 5" anthem, she was an icon and an inspiration. Rest in power to our union sister. We will always love you.

Yes! Misogyny with a big dash of homophobia because gay men loved her and that made her somehow contemptible. And the patronisingness of people saying she was "already pretty" so why all the hair and boobs and plastic surgery.

It shows what a hermetic environment these guys are operating in that someone who became an MP 25 years ago, a government minister 20 years ago, and has never not held a senior political role since, appears to them to be not part of the establishment.

Really? Is that it? If this is all that’s come from COBR, it’s pitifully inadequate. As crisis deepens, it beggars belief that there aren’t eg plans to increase resources for the fire service, support for farmers, max workplace temperature, funded community cool spaces & obvs ban on new fossil fuels

After a long period of not remembering my dreams, in the last couple of weeks I've started having really vivid and even lucid dreams. My theory: Keir Starmer, who famously does not dream, has exerted a deadening force over the nation's psyche, and the arrival of Burnham has lifted this curse.

Yesterday, the government announced spending cuts to vital public services as part of the Defence Investment Plan. This is costly and wasteful: every extra pound spent on defence is money taken away from schools and hospitals. Let’s invest in people, not more war abroad.
