A £276 increase in bills in January would be the final straw for millions across the country. The Prime Minister must turn words into actions and stop bills going up on his watch.
Green graphic image with Hannah Spencer's photo quoting her: 'The Prime Minister must commit to stopping bills rising'. Full quote reads:

“Andy Burnham keeps talking about giving families breathing space. But actions speak louder than words and bills are still going up on his watch when people can’t afford it.

A £276 increase in January would be the final straw for many people in the constituency I represent and for millions across the country.

The Prime Minister must commit now to stopping bills going up in January, starting with moving more costs off energy bills, properly funding a national home insulation scheme, clamping down on rampant profiteering by energy companies, and rapidly scaling up cheaper, cleaner energy.”

I'm so very sad to hear of the death of Esther Ranzen who played an important role in reuniting me with Nicky Winton - the man who saved my life. It's so desperately sad that she couldn't choose assisted dying as was her wish.

A fairer voting system can't wait until after the next general election. We need electoral reform now.
WE NEED FAIR VOTING BEFORE THE NEXT ELECTION

ELLIE CHOWNS
MP FOR NORTH HEREFORDSHIRE

"The PM cannot acknowledge the unfairness of a system capable of handing power to a government with a minority of the vote share, and then say the answer is to let that happen exactly once more before he fixes it.

Burnham must act with urgency to immediately jumpstart the National Commission, guarantee timely progress, and ensure its recommendations are delivered in time for a fairer voting system to be in place at the next general election."

I have said before and will again: any electoral reform commission must NOT rule out a change of system BEFORE the next election if needed. We cannot risk a minority vote handing a huge majority to any party that would take a shredder to democracy itself.

"It is clear that Labour needs the Greens to keep them in check everyday to push them towards the real transformation this country needs." @zackpolanski.bsky.social reacts to the Prime Minister's speech at Labour conference.
HOPE IS NOT JUST A SLOGAN, IT NEEDS TO MEAN REAL CHANGE

ZACK POLANSKI
LEADER OF THE GREEN PARTY

"Unlike his predecessor, we have a PM who talks like he gets it. But sadly like his predecessor he isn’t prepared to break from the powerful and wealthy interests that have created an inequality, affordability and a climate crisis.

Hope is not just a slogan, it needs to mean real change. The speech today had no wealth taxes, no rent controls, no water nationalisation and a strong hint of more North Sea drilling.

It is disappointing that we have a country ready to break from the last 40 years, a Labour government with the majority to do it, and yet what we see are more half measures, reannouncements and tinkering."

A third runway for Heathrow in the face of a climate emergency? The Government's own climate advisors say no! Ministers must withdraw support for this reckless plan that only benefits wealthy airport bosses, and support the buses and trains we use every day instead.

Rather than expanding Heathrow, the Government should focus on cleaner alternatives to flying by improving rail links to Europe. A frequent flyer levy and ending aviation's tax privileges would also ensure those who fly most and pollute most contribute most to decarbonisation.

No amount of fudge can make airport expansion compatible with our climate commitments. It is disgraceful to see this government twist its own promises into knots simply to try to make bigger profits for the bosses of one private company in spite of the ever-growing costs of climate breakdown.

Labour and Burnham have been silent on capping political donations while Reform gets £72 million from Farage's billionaire mates. We need @zackpolanski.bsky.social in Parliament to hold Labour to account, not another Labour backbencher to wave through Burnham's policies without scrutiny.
A quote from Rachel Millward, Deputy Leader of the Green Party. It reads, "Reform is a vessel for the super wealthy. They will always act in the interests of the super wealthy. Labour could have stopped this years ago by capping donations. Burnham promised to do it then backtracked. Will he now admit this was a mistake? Burnham and Labour have been quiet on a donations cap for the last 24 hours. The public needs to know where he stands."
