Quality performance art. Easy to parse, thematically relevant, kinda gross. Love it.
CW: Do you have any qualms about the fact that Al art is made by scraping other
artists? GG: Yeah, I mean, that's part of why I spat it out, because Al chews up and spits out art
made by other people.

On one hand, Columbo is a police lieutenant, which is bad. On the other hand, Columbo makes more sense if you view him not as a cop but as some sort of supernatural entity, like a fey

One of the worst parts of living in UK is no Thanksgiving thereby allowing psycho Brits to start all their Christmas bullshit Nov 1. I now know that Thanksgiving’s primary function is to serve as a firewall preventing that nonsense in the New World.

In video games, you will often find a fully roasted chicken abandoned on the ground, and eating it extremely quickly makes you feel better. What's less known is that this is also true in real life

@gralefrit.bsky.social You have to see these! A friend of mine has been collating a series of images entitled "Things my students have written turned into Philomena Cunk quotes" and they're just glorious.
Philomena Cunk against a collection of classical statues. "Antigone's death is even more tragic than it actually is, which makes her a tragic hero"Philomena Cunk looking thoughtful. "Goya continued to paint tapestries until 1792 when serious illness left him dead for life"Philomena Cunk looking thoughtfully into the distance. "Society is slowly becoming more contemporary now"Philomena Cunk looking into camera on a beach. "Diderot's Tahiti represents a typical male fantasy in which attractive young women are eager to engage in sexual activity with the French"

Remote workers are 40% more productive than those same workers in the office. And most of us spend those in-office days on Zoom ANYWAY, talking to people in other offices. But it makes managers sad that they can't physically see their peasants toiling in the fields, so out you go!

Every webcomic has two stories: the story the artist is telling and the meta story of watching an artist make creative choices over the course of many, many years. You get to watch art evolve and change in real time.

I suspect that fact that the vast majority of LLM users don’t seem to have received this (really very simple!) message is because the AI companies have a vested interest in us not understanding it. “ChatGPT is smart, it just makes mistakes sometimes” is much more marketable than the truth.

The backsliding on vaccines is awful but the backsliding on basic germ theory is grim in its own way. Yes, it's "natural" for humans and pets to eat raw meat. It's also just as "natural" to die from the numerous pathogens in it. That's nature; nature is always trying to kill you and your pet.

ok one more "how we do it on bluesky" re: "block, don't engage." it's not that anybody wants to tell you what to do -- it's that we collectively realized that this is what works. it works really great! zero, zero response needed. just block! don't argue at all with dickheads! try it! you'll see.
