25 Sept 1943 // Overnight on 24/25 September German torpedo boats were detected laying mines off the Essex and Suffolk coasts. HM Trawler Franc Tireur sighted them off Lowestoft at about 1am but was torpedoed as she turned towards them. She sank with 15 men lost. #RoyalNavy #WW2 #NavalHistory
